Cloud 9 Quake Blast suffered a perfect storm of shit to make it hard to get. Look at the current "Inferno" toys. They are all scrambling to get them out quickly as possible before Tak gets theirs out.

The only one I might possible be interested in might be Maketoys version of Grapple which for me would make a good Hauler. Shockwave doesn't have that, in an MP collection there is only really room for one.

They would say that though, They wouldn't want to be seen as being controlled by one of the companies they buy from because as soon as that was apparent no other company would send their stock to them if they were seen to give a company like FT preferential treatment.

Why would a sales outlet refuse an obvious amount of guaranteed sales? = makes no sense.

They dropped the price due to the recently announced official figure.

How can a Chinese company be racist when they are Chinese too? It's like Brits being self deprecating and taking the piss out of how awful other parts of the UK are. This kind of thing floats over the heads of most other countries who don't get sarcasm. People are too literal with interpretation.

Someone hacked Sever?? How could they :(

OK, I know you meant server, but I couldn't help but smile at that, given that we're discussing FT and you know what one of their dinobots is called :lol

    To answer the original question...

ebay if you risk a chinese seller ( i got burned on mine) and Kapow Toys in the UK had a new restock the other week (and they sell FT toys just fine as one of the main UK retailers for them....so that adds weight to busting that particular rumour!).

In the end I got Quakewave reissue (new sealed) for £65 posted off a FB group, that was only £5ish more than QB was when I got scammed on ebay. Very happy with him!

It doesn't really as Kapow actively pulled out of stocking FT products at one point after numerous reported problems and when they (FT) seemingly went chummy with TF-Express. Kapow had problems getting replacement parts from Fanstoys and it even reached a point where some replacement parts were diverted to TF-E instead.

It's not surprising Kapow ended up stocking the alternative product after that experience.

    Ahhh, I see.

Would you also like to share your belief on who really killed JFK or why the United States faked the lunar landing?

The simplest and most direct explanation tends to be right. Not to mention 2 of the only members here who would actually know have now refuted it.

I think, and I could be wrong here , that I remember reading that Cloud 9 didnt contact US retailers to sell through. Maybe it was Toy Dojo again, but I could be making that up. Anyway, believe what you want.

I think the bigger issue is that they told people to burn (kill) themselves.

That's so not what happened. The "Chinese people have no quality" comment is actually more like "There's so many rumours playing around, [some] Chinese people simply have no class", and it was a reaction to rumours that have been surrounding Cloud9. They followed it up with a picture of the test shot stating that they are happy with the quality + detail and asked rumour mongers to conduct themselves with a bit more self-respect.

GP shared an article of a Mongolian man publicly setting himself alight in protest of coal exports to China with the title "The Highest Form of Boycotting". This was a response after many people piled on about boycotting. This is arguably done in poor taste and probably really bad for their PR, but I believe they were also trying to point out the idiocy in the situation, and people irrationally throwing around the word "boycotting".

you'll never get the whole true story at this point as rumors and conspiracy theories are layered and then re-layered at one point.

As mentioned earlier, at least 2 of our retailer contacts on the board stated that C9 never solicited them to carry the product and at least one had actually initiated inquiries through their distributors as there was definite customer interest in the product.

So you can speculate all you want on what FT did or didn't do, but what C9 pretty definitively didn't do was market the toy like it was a real product.

Given the price point and the name, my inclination is that this was another "I'll show you FT" play, kinda like a certain not-veritech/not-transformer, as opposed to a normal release that wants to, you know, make money and/or build a brand. from that perspective it's a pure success.

All that being said, it's a pretty sweet toy from all accounts, but I already have 2 MP SW interpretations, so a third wasn't in the books.

Given the popularity of QB and the news of MP Shockwave coming out right around the time that that orders might be solicited from retailers, it's a big up in the air that there would have been "guaranteed" sales. Not to mention the later price drop would have caused pre-order backlash for the retailers to also dramatically reduce their prices to mirror TF-direct, so... retailers might have dodged a bullet on that one.

**Random Culture Spiel Alert** (not relevant to the toy)

It's interesting that you bring up the Brits as there's a very real culture barrier between mainland Chinese and ethnic Chinese in other places such as Singapore or Taiwan. For that matter plenty of people in Hong Kong (where I "think" C9 is located) consider themselves culturally and quasi-racially separate from people from the PROC. It's hard enough to read nuance on the internet, especially when translated, but the wording used on the C9 post can very much be read as targeting mainland Chinese as there are other words that can be used to refer to Chinese people from a broader cultural category versus more specific national category. I'd agree that the comment reads more closely to having "no class", again as the word choice was a bit more hoity toity than one that simply says people are rude or foolish and no one likes being called a hick. If anything, mainland Chinese are somewhat (rightfully) sensitive about these types of comments as there has been and still are a lot of bigoted mindsets aimed at them.

or to put it another way, it can be derogatory the way parts of Texas doesn't think the rest of America is American enough anymore.

The politics there is a bit of a sensitive/touchy subject, However, even though I'm from Taiwan, I still consider myself Chinese. When these things are said, we don't normally consider ourselves outside of that racial group that we're referring to, but there's just a very strongly implied "some" in front.

I'm still trying to figure out how people are saying definitely that GP is C9. Until someone from one or both speak up, that's like saying I'm part of GP because I like their product aesthetic.
