I was thinking that since there are so many 3P figures coming out, there ought to be at least a few 3P comics. Perhaps a G1 cartoon homage that uses the same animation models/style in print form? I'm not talking the updated slick designs, but something that looks as close to the original cartoon as possible. Like the FansToys of TF comics...

Does this exist? If it does, how much??! If it doesn't, what is required to create such a thing?

MMC are providing some cool comic books with their toys. Other than that there's probably tons of fanfiction available, though I really wouldn't know how much of it is in the format of a comic book

I am pretty sure at least KFC does those. There are not very many. I have not done much research on the topic, but they do exist. I think those are a good idea; I would read them. Comics included with the toys have potential to provide hints on future releases, cause customers to develop more interest in a third party company after reading an entertaining comic, and even creating potential third party fictional franchises. The latter two things could be part of the revolution in Transformers that may be in the making, i.e. the fact that third party is stealing some of the money and reputation that previously belonged to HasTak. I mean, think about it. A wise man once said that third party is becoming Masterpiece and Masterpiece is becoming third party. The quality of some (not all!) third party figures is surpassing the more recent Masterpiece products to an extent. If this continues with third party comics, which they can produce fairly easily, people may start reading those, as third party comics, like the toys, can easily reflect some of the stuff that fans want. That might be why they exist, but they probably exist minimally because they, well, don't have to do that. An increase in the amount of third party comic material can and may spread in the future.
