No G1s in these pictures, but I wanted to share my excitement as I begin the shelving for my 15x15 collection room (you can see my collection in my signature that will begin occupying this space shortly)...

I'll be adding puck lighting under each of the "white" shelves as I get everything finalized.

Any suggestions? I'm open to opinions and suggestions as I start buying and assembling all the shelves

Used the MP Dinobots as a weight test for the glass shelves :)

I am sitting in our new house in Indiana as I type this, surrounded by boxes. Some of my collection has come with me, but at some point soon I plan to bring all of my G1 from my collection room at my parents' place in Georgia. Hoping to get some fancy shelves to display them :D

I bought and moved into this house 6 years ago. I remember the 16 moving boxes taking up so much space for too long. But when the display case was finally built it made for one hell of a display. Now we bought a bigger house out in the country and I'll get to go through that all again. It'll be a year or two before my toys will start getting unpacked again... Hope I can one-up myself again this time!

My tip would be to go get some of those glass doors. Open displays gather dust very quick! Have fun putting together that display!

I definitely took that into consideration... I was originally going to go full on custom built ins, but I was surprised by how much I liked the Billy IKEA cases with the glass shelves... I know they make doors, but I'm not sure if they make ones for the height extension up top and I wasn't sure if it would look odd that way.

For now, I'm leaving off the doors (already going to cost around $1400 for all the cases and shelves to finish the three walls in the room). But once I've got all my figures in place and make any adjustments, doors may be the next big purchase :)

Congratulations! I wish I had that much space for my collection. :)  Nearly all of it is stored in a cabinet in my office. Currently the only robot toys that aren't in there are a Popy GA-50 Daiku Maryu and a small earthenware Dalek (technically a cyborg of sorts).

Agreed. Big Powered although not the most complex, has easily got to be one of the best TF'S ever. It's a shame Zone only got thte OVA!

Always liked this figure, but never did get one. Congrats on yours. It looks minty!

Looks great! Still one of the best original molds. From the artwork on the box to the three tone colour scheme. I hope Takara does make one after MP Inferno!

Oh man....that display has to come down? Good luck and safe transport. Are you taking the cabinets with you or leaving them for the new owner?

This is going to be one clean looking setup with that kinda of space! But iDD is right. You have to get some doors, the dust is going to infuriate you after a while! Instead of getting the puck lights from Ikea that I believe use halogen bulbs, you should look about LED strip lights (maybe even an RGB set) against that white background would be pretty cool?

Factually, Zone premiered as a single manga volume. The OVA episode debuted three months later. Both told the same story. And Masumi Kaneda, the author tied to the Zone storyline, wrote numerous TV Magazine chapters that act as both a prequel and sequel to this sole chapter.

Here is a listing of those chapters, compliments of TFwiki.

Atop of that, the author of the page disputes it being part of the JG1 continuity. He (or she) then used the term "broad strokes" when it was officially concluded that it is, indeed, part of the "Japanese cartoon continuity". This, for the most part, was tied to the return of Predaking. The author, however, failed to mention that Violen Jiger also brought back BlackZarak from the dead prior to the OVA/manga chapter.

Meaning, if I am concluding this correctly, the Predaking that was killed was an "Action Master" clone of the original. That, or both were from a different universes (if Violen Jiger turns out to be tied to Straxus). Or, Violin Jager actually has the power to bring back the dead.

But yeah... The OVA is just the animated chapter of an entire story. And I hope this makes the story more interesting to you. :)

Yeah, I've always had open shelves in the past and dusting can be a chore (though an excuse to mess with them all)...

I'll have to look into the best lighting option, I was mostly inspired by Arkvander's collection:

This would best be accompanied by a video of you unboxing MISB specimens, decapitating them, and tossing the bodies as you make it :p

Looking good Turbine. Can't wait to see it all set up. Is it at least in a sealed room for less dusting? I think I have to dust mine once every eighteen months to two years with having them behind glass and in a closed off room.

Pretty excited, one of my final four grails is in the mail, along with a couple finishing touches for other figures/sets in my collection.

This is great info. I was referring to the animated episode specifically, but I'm going to dig into this further.

Well there's no denying the awesomeness of that setup, for sure!! A great model to pattern yourself after. I wish I had room with that kind of space!!

That reminds me of the big game hunter episode from US G1!! Nice

Now that's a TF collector nightmare if I ever heard one.....oh the horror of just thinking about that!
