How different will Hasbro Cerebros look compared to Takara Fortress? Have we seen side by side comparisons?

 

not yet.. as far as I am aware there are no pics of Takara's Legend's Fortess HM yet. Just the full body shots nd alt modes of Fotress Maximus in G1 colors.

 

Well he is also significantly more expensive, at $25 more suggested retail. So it isn't a 1:1. It is the usual deal with Hasbro over the last few years - you are getting less than you expect for the price based on past precedent.

We will just have to see if the TakaraTomy version ends up coming with more changes than just the swords and what is an extremely likely remold to the head of Cerebros. I could definitely see some guns considering Metroplex came with the proper weapons.

I wonder if those leg guns could go on the sides of the tower to help create a better tower for city mode.

 

A definite remold of the head. We can see Fortress' head in silhouette in Takara's preview teaser image. The way it sticks up on the sides is definitely Fortress and not Cerebros.

 

I noticed something... Fortress Maximus Crotch is backwards...

 

Correct way round for Max, been pointed out a while back that it was Metroplex's backwards

I'll add my voice to the chorus hoping to see the legs opened up on Fort Max (just to see if you can do it). I'm pretty happy with how he looks - I think Hasbro (or maybe SDCC, depending) + reprolabels + one add-on will be cheaper for me and get my FM looking how I want him to.

As a sidenote, I hope someone at X-Transbots digs up that Cog design from 3 years ago. I'm pretty sure he was perfectly sized for interacting w/Metroplex, so he'd be all ready to go (and the market should be more receptive now)

 

Oh wow, Fort Max is looking great! I may have to pick one up now, but still going to wait on reviews first.

Interesting little tit bit on parts reuse I spotted in the unboxing video:


On the leg on our left, see the black hole slightly to the left of the right hand side of the leg? That's the gutter the crane arm sits in one Metroplex. The thing is the panel has moved legs from Metroplex and is now on the opposite one!

I can see a lot of people throwing down on four purchases of this mold. Hasbro, TakTomy, Brave Max Recolor, and Grand Max Recolor! I'd love to see that lineup!

 

I fell ya! Not that I necessarily would want to make a separate purchase, but I'd be extremly surprised if multiple 3rd parties didn't cash in on this opportunity. I can see us getting weapons ranging from swords that glow to blasters and extra cannons that transform, so I don't see lack of hand held weapons being a long term issue. (at least not for those that want to fork over the extra cash...and considering the size the weapons would have to be they won't be cheap)

I'm still surprised that we're getting another figure that's this big.

 

Its kind of crazy that the big For Max head is actually turning on that TINY balljoint of that TINY headmaster's head.

 

I think there's actually a kind of turntable setup the head sits on, as in the video it looks like the blue sections on Cerebros' shoulders that act as buttons for the SFX have little moulded nubs that clip him in for a more secure attachment.
