He better not come back. He, and all of his teammates.
I liked AoE best bcuz it's more like a movie about Transformers fighting Transformers, human characters only give a little support while trying to save themself after being dragged into Transformers war with proper reason. The others 3 are basically Us army killing Transformers with the help of Autobots to show their badass-ness and superiority, while Sam's relation with Autobots is so forced (at least in DOTM)
I never get why you guys like Lennox, Epps, etc... All of them are just souless characters. The only thing they did in the movie is fighting, shooting, "watch out, take out that giant ass robot yeah". They didn't have anything, any side story that made me care for them. They don't even talk much with the Autobots like a friend, a normal being with a normal being, unlike Cade family. If there is anyone from the first 3 movies come back (exclude Sam & Mikaela) it would be Simmon

It's easy. Because they did have souls. They worked together as a team and fought against a common enemy. And in the first film, had no idea what they were doing. It was a reflection of how the military would most likely act if giant alien robot-like creatures came to your planet and attacked it in real life.

And uh... Lennox did have a side story, and something to fight for. His family. His newborn daughter and wife. While Epps didn't have a direct side-story, the group (especially the duo) brought on a camaraderie that was much needed in times of literal war.

I loved them. I've never been in the military, but I've had camaraderie like that, spending time with friends and working together as a team, (working several Summers during High School as a staff member at a Scout camp) and so all the good times, and bad times, felt very real in the films. A sides story isn't necessarily needed when these guys are your family in the first place.

Simmons was the "Dwight Schrute" of the films, someone who needed to put himself up on a pedestal when there wasn't one. He would claim how serious his job was and then do a literal action that would negate the thing that previously came out of his mouth.

And yeah, I liked Simmons. But I honestly liked him as a group with Epps and Lennox. They all had great screen chemistry and enjoy seeing them on the screen. But now that Sector 7 is gone, there's no real point for just him to return.

Bay actually responded to Tyrese's plea with a "I'm thinking" response.

So I think he'll be back.

Sector 7's been gone since the end of TF1, yet it didn't stop Simmons from returning in ROTF or DOTM.

Yes, however, he had inside knowledge from his time at S7 regarding other possible Transformer locations, like Jetfire for instance.

I'm not saying he's totally worthless, but with Cemetery Wind having taken out what is apparently all the known Transformers on Earth, any intel that Simmons had carrying over from S7 wouldn't really apply.

And sure, the same could be said for NEST which is also gone. But at least Epps and Lennox have tactical know-how and experience taking down Decepticons.
