All I can say is that Hasbro's box art and bot mode looks good. :redface2:

As for the alt modes... I can only recall "city mode" being a major factor for Brave Maximus. At least in the Japanese fiction. And even then, he was not really a Headmaster, despite the new fiction giving Fort the idea to use his transector technology. So his lackluster city mode is worth ignoring to me. :lol

So in the end, I'm passing on the Hasbro version since it makes me miss the days where the old G1 packaging was king. And I will hope that the TakaraTomy packaging looks a whole lot better. Because the addition of both Master Swords makes theirs feel a whole lot better.

Have we ever seen the legs open up (ala Metroplex), or the red piece on his flank fold out, or the red panel on his shoulder? There look to be seams and moving parts all over him that aren't being used in any of the official pics...

Like Metroplex, Fort Max is gonna have tons of possible fan modes.

Here's my photoshop attempt at a possible fan city mode:

I want to like this so bad, and am waiting till someone gets it and shows all the features and fan modes to decide if i will get him. This is really making me worry about tripticon and the other bases/cities. There just doesn't seem to be much motivation being put into designing them right now. With all the recent advances with CW, mech-tech, and auto-transformations the cities should be packed with so much more and so many more options. To me, this is why 3rd parties are doing so well.

I would very much prefer if his legs could fold in nicely beside the main tower (as per his G1 rendition) but if that's not possible, I can see myself exploring on the mode which you'd posted so thanks for sharing! :thumb

I would wait for Takaratomy and possible 3rd party accessories first.
It is missing the master sword and those extra small gun now.

You could potentially get the legs closer to the main tower by extending the legs straight, would make them even taller but they would still be behind the main tower.

Here's a comparison pic with Metroplex as a test "volunteer": One thing to note is that Fort Max's upper legs have been modified to allow full splits, Metroplex's hip shape prevents him from doing that. The leg towers can only rotate 360 when the upper legs are straight up. When the upper legs are split the leg towers can only face sideways, either inwards or outwards. You can also get the towers to have an angled facing by rotating the upper legs to the front.

How much were Devastator and Metroplex? I recall Metro being like $130 at retail or maybe $140 (I got him at $79.99 at Costco anyway). Pretty sure Devastator was around that range as well.

Thanks for hooking it up with that pic! Judging by the looks, that takara version is the one for me.

The Hasbro version pictured has the wrong feet color. The actual inhand product had blue feet, not red.

least they could have somehow done was make the center tower look better by have a couple pieces swing over that headmaster bot to better hide him, and have some window details on it.

I'd love to see a Vastly superior Brave Max colored version with actual painted windows all over.

I have to say that the grey runway tops on the Hasbro version, while not accurate to anything, just look better. They're still white from the front in robot mode, which is cool, and look much better being grey in ship and fortress mode.

I also like the forearms better on the Hasbro version. And I like the Hasbro head much, much better.

With the Takara version, I like the torso better and the lower legs much, much better.

I wish there was some combination version of the two.

I didn't bother going through the whole thread but i got my Fort Max in yesterday and asked my contacts over at BBTS and they informed me that they can't put their preorder up until July 1 with an estimated release date of late July/ Early August. Just an FYI for people wondering when he'll be available to the masses.
