Thanks in advance Razor24, yea I agree that it's pretty hard to build a solid figure of size this big. I know that some prefers their combiners to be massive, but from the reviews I've seen the warbotron size combiners pretty much all suffer from stability issue to certain extent. Even Feral Rex, which most consider as the best "big" combiner on the market now, could use a more solid hip ratchet IMO. I honestly think the smaller FPJ/MT size is the most ideal for combiners.

Thanks again for the assurance, looking forward to the pics~!

It's a shame that no 4th party has made better ratchets for his hips. Or, really, better ratchets for most 3P combiner hips.

Still plan on getting this guy, combining him, and displaying him with my other 3P combiners. I've got to finish the combiners who were actually in the G1 cartoon first, and probably prioritize TFC's Poseidon and Hades before this guy, though.

I agree. The FP/MT sizes are most stable for combiners from my experience. Heck even the TF Energon combiners with FP add-ons were rock solid. The larger you go (pretty much from TFC Hercules size up) you will experience weaker ratchets that struggle to support the weight of the limbs. You only need to look at Generation Metroplex to see that issue. Despite not being super heavy, his sheer size alone makes his knee ratchets flop around.

So I found some pics of my set to share with you.

This is essentially the display minus Swoop. You will see I did take pics of him completed after but I never retook the pic of the action battle scene. I copied the pose from this scene.

And this was to test his sturdiness in a non-standard A stance (kind of walking) pose. Took me about 1min to get him in that pose be it was on a bench and not glass.

And size comparison with TW Orion

Fellow member echotransformer designed steel ratchets for Hercules on Shapeways back in the day. Apparently they worked really well for Hercules. Downside was the cost (more a Shapeways issue than his).

Also while it improved the hip ratchets I can see why companies still stick with conventional plastic ratchets to save cost.

Thanks man that's an awesome picture, if that doesn't sell me on the set I don't know what will.

I'm glad someone agrees with me when it comes to the size of combiners. I just hope that FPJ/MT doesn't give up on this size and move on to bigger ones, at least not until they give me Superion and Abominus anyway. Again being a little OCD, it's very important for me that the 8 G1 combiners are more or less the same scale.

Yea I guess Bruticus Maximus + FPJ add-ons holds up pretty well, but the Shadow Fisher upgrade kind of pushes the hip ratchets to their limit.

Just a shameless necro of a thread to let people know that I'm parting with my set for the low price of $255 shipped. See my sig for more super cheap deals and sorry if this is not allowed. Just wanted to spread the word.

I snapped Grimshell's dino hand off. the fingers were extremely tight and the wrist snapped before they'd turn. Anyone know how to get a replacement arm? (I got it off ebay) or if I can swap his t rex arms with mp08 or severo.

This new set seems like the best way to get a complete set of g1 dinobots. Does anyone have an opinion on a better set? I'm trying to research which ones to get and there are so many different companies making them. Some are g1, some are based on the game's, no other companies seem to have finished making all the bots, and some of the companies dont even seem to be around anymore. So...its pretty confusing.

The only complete set of "G1" dinobots out there that I'm aware of aside from Toyworld's set is the FansToys Iron DiBots set. FansToys needs no discussion on quality of design or build.
If you're not picky about them being strictly G1, the Planet X Dinobots are beautiful and transform nicely. They also come with a +1 in the form of Paddles, the super obscure Dinobot from some offhand story from the G1 era.
If Legends class is your bag, DX9 will for certain finish their versions soon.
Iron Factory created War Within Dynobots (pre-Earth Dinobots). I've always wanted a set, but haven't managed to get around to budget for them. Iron Factory generally has decent build quality.
Finally, if you're on a budget there's always the Hasbro Platinum Edition Dinobots which are just some of the Movie Dinobots recolored with G1 style head retools.

Otherwise, yeah. You're sort of short on options for "complete" Dinobots.

Thanks very much. I'm looking at the fantoys releases now and while they are incredible looking, they are damned expensive. This complete toyworld chrome pack for 400 seems like a fair compromise for budget and quality.

Planet X Dinos will all be available shortly--they are all up for preorder at BBTS. But they are spendy for CHUG-sized figures.

I picked GCreation's set over Toyworld's. Not sure how difficult it would be to track down a full set now, but it would most likely be much more than $400.

If you want MP scale though, Gigapower makes some fantastic bots, but are pretty slow getting them out. I'm a patient person, so for me it's well worth the wait.

I absolutely love them, but just as a display piece. Transformation, especially to combined mode isn't fun, but it is impressive if you manage to get it right.

I have been tempted by TW's though, especially at $400. I can't pull the trigger yet because there are too many other figures I want before I start quadruple dipping on 3P dinos. I do love the trex head in combined mode. Shuraking has the head in the back instead of on the chest.
