Ridiculous. The run would only have been for the 850, then. Fun Pub made the run larger precisely because they were making some for the UK folks, too.

This is pointless to argue with them they will not understand or choose to understand

You know that for a fact? Weren't you unaware just yesterday that there even were more than 850 in the first place? Can you provide sources?

Seems to me that if you weren't already aware they had more stock set aside, then you must've thought they were already doing something similar to what I'm suggesting here, sending their actual unsold extras to RORC after the fact.

Funpub fucked up by lifting their 'one per customer' rule on Megatron, especially that fast during BotCon.

However, it probably has nothing to do with this. So blame Funpub for messing that up, but don't turn your rage and entitlement towards another convention and its organizers, who in all likelihood struck a deal on these figures way before BotCon.

Autobot City Comics 2008 is right. This is pointless. Sources aren't the point. It's just basic logic and reasoning from the information we've been given. Information you have just as readily as I do, but you're so determined to hate on FunPub, you apparently can't see it.

I'm not interested in defending FunPub from things they've done wrong (and I'm a bit concerned over the lack of transparency of this apparent deal made beforehand), but the suggestions you're making simply don't make any sense.

He has a conflict of interest because he got the last few Megatrons and auctioned at least one of them. He profited considerably from the shortage and the lack of transparency here, and he wasn't personally negatively affected by them like everyone else. He also seems to enjoy the outraged reactions to that knowledge. I wouldn't worry too much about what he says one way or the other.
Basic logic and reasoning require adequate information. Adequate information has to come from reliable sources. Without more information about how FunPub's manufacturing deal with Hasbro works (or worked), neither of us has more claim to that than the other. Sources may not be the point, but you can't really make the point without them.

More importantly, you're trying to reason out how do they do it, while I'm more interested in how they could or should. (Y'know, because however they're doing it, it broke this time.) If the "sell the extras later" model seemed reasonable to you until yesterday, then there's no way it's "ridiculous" today as an alternative model. New evidence of how FunPub actually handles its exclusives isn't something I'm ignoring. It's simply not relevant to the "ought" question.
No, you're injecting that into my argument yourself. I'm perfectly capable of liking FunPub (they've done plenty of good stuff) and recognizing their screw-ups simultaneously. This is one of those cases.
But they made sense the day before yesterday?

I think it is too easy to underestimate the utility of actually going to the show. There are far too many people that view show attendance as just a way of securing the yearly exclusive toys when it is a whole lot more than that. If people would actually go, they may realize that the personal relationships they can make end up being way more valuable than anything else. And not only does that help the individual, but that is where it helps the brand and convention grow.

What many are not understanding is that the toys are merely the initial incentive to get you off your butt and go. By putting these in the hands of RORC, these toys can do a greater job of fulfilling their intended purpose and the brand and fans will all be better for it.

    +1 :)
That makes sense... except that unlike Botcon, RORC is offering these figures to absentees.

They are? I thought you could only buy the exclusives if you attend the show. I don't see an option where they ship you the exclusives. From what I can tell, RORC is the same as Botcon where you have to be physically present at the show to buy the toys.

    Where is your source?

All I can see on their shop and ticket information stating that you must be an Energon or Crossover ticket holder to purchase. Tickets and items purchased will be collected at the Welcome Desk after providing ID/proof of purchase.

In fact, a Seibertron.com forum member posted the following response he got from RORC:

If you take into consideration past conventions as well, most of the toys from those showed up at third party sellers. Heck, you can find boxed and bagged sets from Botcon '15 still floating around for roughly their convention price on eBay. But the limited numbers screwed over those of us who can't attend the show, like myself. I have a physical handicap - my right knee got screwed up in a car accident with a deer a few years ago - so for people like me, the option to buy online is a godsend.

My bad then. Someone earlier in the thread had indicated that they registered, and that it looked like RORC was adding shipping to their order. I took my fellow forum-goer at his word, and since I already have my Megatron and already returned my friend's money, I've had no reason to try ordering one myself.

For what it's worth ACC2008 wasn't the one who nabbed the last few. IIRC he got his extra while the voucher system was still in play.
Which again, for those who couldn't get an extra; you should have attended as a Golden Ticket. Hell, I was willing to buy six extras JUST for MY personal collection. And I had two guys lined up wanting one that I was going to sell to them at cost. I was unable to do either. And have no plans to sell the second one I bought to keep sealed.

Thanks for that but I feel it will fall on deaf ears b/c if you buy more than one you are branded as a scalper. I also have learned I don't care what ppl think of me b/c if I have the cash to buy more than one and time to wait in line I am going to do it.

I'm not sure why people are complaining about not getting a figure that has a limited number made, that's the point. Not everyone who wants one is going to get one.

People complain when FP doesn't make figures they want, and when they do, they complain they sell out. FP has been left with so much left over product, it's great to see them selling out.

FP said there was 850, so there was 850 available at Botcon. If you want the at convention exclusives then go to the convention. If you don't want to go/or can't afford to go to the convention, then don't expect to be able to get the figures.

I'm glad the U.K. is getting these figures, they have to pay so much more for figures in general.

I would love to get the Megatron and Terrorsaur for my Botcon 2006 shelf, but I couldn't afford to go and I'm not willing to pay the eBay price. Those figures are now added to the huge list of things I want but can't afford (mansion, Ferrari, lucky draw bumblebee...)

Yeah. I ain't gonna die without a redeco of a toy you can get for $30 on eBay, it's more about the principle and FP sorta telling a white lie on the production numbers.

They never referred to the numbers given as "production numbers." We (myself included) all assumed that 850 was the ceiling.

Did we ever get confirmation on why U.S. buyers were charged an additional "shipping" fee when they bought the megatron/terrorsaur package?

Are these going to get shipped out?
