Guys,

I could use some advise... I'm about to get my first Masterpiece (after I got the Wei Jiang Optimus Prime last month), but I'm not sure which one to get.
I would like to make sure I get my hands on the rare ones first, before they become hard to get at a later stage.

- Which do you recommend me??
(money isn't much of an issue at this moment)

Road Rage, or Soundwave, or MP 10. They're the only ones I have.  

Also, MP Primal once he's out.

 

If money isn't a huge issue, I'd say get Soundwave next. The carbots are far easier to come by, and he is just awesome from what I've seen (money is an issue for me, so $300+ for one figure is out of the question).

 

All depends on how you are collecting and what is important to you?

**As a hobby (get only what you like) or
**As a completionist (get everything the line has to offer) or
**As a way to make some extra money (get super rare ones that may go up in value)

My 2cents:
MP10 & MP13 (Along with all the cassettes - MP15 + 16) are must haves to start any collection (As these are my favs).
FYI: MP16 is about double the price of MP15. If you can get your hands on MP16 - Try for that first.

MP-11SW is the priciest one at this point in time (ridiculous Ebay prices @ $450+);
That said, Takara often does re-issues; So, you kinda don't know which one might become super rare until it gets that way.

Just have to go with what you like and be happy if it goes up in value.

 

I'm not the person to sell his collection... it will be on display in my hobby room.
I DO want to have the entire G1 Masterpiece collection.
So from a traders point of view, I don't really care about what value it might become.

 

In that case, start with your favorites and go from there.
Also, MP-11 is a great mold; You should look at grabbing some of those guys (if possible);
I would not touch MP-11SW though; Those stupid prices are not worth the money.

IMO: The only one worth $400+ is MP-4S and MP-10 Bapes.
Again, all depending on your preferences.

MP-10 or MP-13... Either one would be a great start to your MP collection... Granted, i would be leaning heavily toward MP-10!!! 

 

Of the *23 MP's in my collection, Lazerbeak is still my favorite figure. Thus, my vote is for Soundwave

 

I'd say Soundwave is the next hardest MP to get, so if you have the duckets, go for that.

 

MP-10, MP-11SW or MP-13

 

If you want to get the rarest ones first then Takara MP-11 molds of Skywarp and Thundercracker are by far the most difficult to acquire at a decent price, But not worth the price IMO.

If it where me, I'd have to agree with others that MP10 Optimus and MP13 Soundwave are the ones I'd start with, and either version of the MP11 Starscream in a very close second.

 

MP10 Optimus and MP13 Soundwave (toys r us) are the best ones by far. If you have Wei Jiang Optimus Prime then you might be let down on MP-10.

 

Right now I'm leaning towards MP-13 or MP-11SW (considering I already have Wei Jiang Prime).

 

I had to make a different choice, since neither MP-13 nor MP11-SW were available...

I've just bought the following 3 (yes 3) characters;

MP-06 Bluestreak
MP-17 Prowl
MP-20 Wheeljack

* IMO not too bad a start for my Masterpiece collection.

 

Let me know if you want a Soundblaster (and yes, WITH Ratbat!).

I hope you like them. Prowl and Wheeljack are 2 of my all-time faves, and hopefully MP-13 Soundwave does indeed get a re-issue as rumored, because that one is my #1 fave easily, and you really should get one.

 

Soundwave and his minions. Still the best MP made to date, imo.

 

i would've gone with hot rod and magnus.

i LOVE hot rod. but i'm biased because of hot much i love the character. it's also a wonderful figure.

and magnus is just a beast.

prowl is definitely up there too. he was also one of my favorites as a kid. i love the way they did the legs. they're perfect.

for wheeljack, i'm REALLY hoping they do to him what they've done with red alert and give us a toon accurate colored version.

 

Well, I'm kinda biased as well... I never really liked the Season 3/4 characters, so Rodimus/Hot Rod/Ultra Magnus are not that high up my list.
