I am a whore for Optimus Prime, I own hundreds of him. This is the first official Optimus Prime you couldn't pay me to own. It's as lame as that horrible three-step changer, which, is also this horrendous RID.

How did this junk make it through Hasbro desgin approval? It looks like a shitty Construct Bot.

 

Lame, just like a lot of the recent TFs, which is why I'm moving into Masterpiece collecting.

 

I tend to lurk these boards but I had to break the silence...

HASBRO - this has to be one of the lamest TF ever and probably the worst Optimus Prime figure, too. Alt mode is lame, paint apps are lame (Gosh, just look at the "truck" mode), it's hollow beyond being forgivable (does it need to be light to form the torso of some combiner? No!), and I could go on.

Once this shows up in my country (because the distribution will bring this to EU early as part of the new crap, or two years later as part of unsold crap from the US with a language sticker slapped on it) the retailers will be asking 60+ EUR for it. And there will he piles of these and other crap in every toy store, sitting next to construct bots, kreos or RPM from the movies.

I understand you need to fund development of new toys, the upcoming movies, cartoons, etc. But this is too much. If you don't drop a few more blots of paint and are unable to budget hollow part fillers... thanks but no thanks.

False advertising aside (First time Optimus takes flight? Pfft! This isn't even the first time Aligned Continuity Optimus has taken flight! [Beast Hunters, anyone?] Heck, he flew half the way to the big Megatronus fight, in RID!), I think the robot mode is pretty good. That vehicle mode, though... did anyone actually try to make it resemble a vehicle in the slightest? I am praying that's a mistransformation and all that mess can actually tab into the legs, or something.

 

Let it go, man...  

 

Takara's will probably have the better paint apps, but I think I'll get the Hasbro one and get out the silver Gundam markers. I've already got the two larger Adventure Primes but I could repurpose this new RID as another character.

 

I believe the shoulder sections to be boom boxes for disco night at the scrapyard.

But seriously, looking at the truck mode more, anyone else getting the vibe Armada Optimus got boofed by Roto Rooter and car compactor?

 

Why is the cab removed in the robot mode picture?

I haven't spent any money yet on this horrendous toyline, and this figure right here is like... the PRIME example as to why I haven't.. Besides looking awkward, it's severely lacking paint apps in its alt mode.. I'm not a fan of the wing design either.. Couldn't they have come up with a more creative design? What am I saying, of course they could.. And yes, pun intended!
