I just got Wheeljack out of his box to try him out for a custom and you know what? He's actually a decent leg. I wasnt a fan of Breakdown or Sunstreaker as legs because they couldn't make good kneeguards but somehow Wheeljack pulls it off with the remolding he's been given. It honestly makes me more accepting if Hasbro used the mold for Lightspeed like Takara.

Did you wash him with warm soapy water? The mold release agents, when not removed, won't let paint adhere properly to the plastic. Also maks sure to sand the surfaces you want to paint rough so the paint has a good surface to stick on to.

Not really sure about the procedure for cleaning after painting, but I think you might have to start over entirely. You can try to wash him with paint still on, but I'm pretty sure that it'll still rub off in some spots.

Though, apparantly, quite a few CW figures are a pain in the aft to paint, and some plastics have worse rub than others.

With toy development 30 years down the road, I'm wondering if the Constructicons are now flexible or still fixed (can Hook be a leg, or is he always the upper body of Devastator?)

There's no way you could actually do Devastator as a Scramble City combiner and it still look like Devastator. CW Devy is the same fixed configuration as the G1 toy.

I imagine that, while a 6-way Scramble City Devestator could be possible, if given a long design process, it would probably look pretty bad. Imagine Scrapper making up the upper torso, or Long Haul in any position other than the torso.

They'd probably end up looking like roughly the same vehicle and robot with different backpacks.

The only scramble function I long for is that Hook could become upper torso or right leg, allowing for you to swap between Devastator and Prowlestator.

I believe it's possible to engineer and still wish we did get 6 Deluxe Constructions in which the classic limbs could scramble (using built in feet for all 4 and arm attachments ala the one we did get instead of the HFGs) and Long Haul and Hook formed a roughly voyager sized torso all with normal CW connectors. There's no reason that wouldn't be as accurate combined as the Titan, and it could still be a boxset.

Then Devastator would be in-scale with his fellow combiners, it'd be compatible with the mix and match play pattern of the line, and smaller team members means more budget for things like paint and elbows, AND it'd cost less to buy.

Really its odd they didn't do this, it just fits the toy line better.
