I actually like that thing a little better than Stripes.

I like the fact that even though they aren't really cassettes per se, they still have circles on them that are at least suggestive of tapes so you can kind of pretend. (They're supposed to be like memory cards or something right?)

 

Yeah, good ol' Hasbro. They sure do know we love characters who were cut before they ever entered any kind of fiction  

 

Rewind - yes.

Wheelie - yes.

Tony - F#*'k no.

 

Yeah, I would wager that Stripes was designed as a Steeljaw toy, but it was then decided that they didn't want a Steeljaw who wasn't a blue-grey wolf man on shelves, to avoid little Timmy's mum getting the wrong thing, so it became Stripes.

It's the same reason, no doubt, that TR Clobber is called Clobber and not Grimlock.

 

and yet you're okay with completely new characters? Besides, Stripes is an existing character now and has been since 2012. Not the kids would know that.

Personally, I think its cool when Hasbro and Takara draw inspiration from the most obscure sources. I'd like a red and silver repaint of Stripes as Saber. Call him "Nitrotiger Saber" on the packaging.

I still don't like the look of the Stripes toy though.

 

Rewind looks good. Forearms are a little eh, but I'm looking forward to him just the same. Stripes' back looks horrible. I actually really like his head and legs, but the whole midsection is a deal-breaker. Bummed Ravage will be the same.

 

Rewind/Eject looks great.

Stripes looks like... Ok, I just don't like its look. Not at all. Good thing I don't need it. Still looking for FOC Blaster, so I have total zero need in a rather unsightly figure that can't work with FOC data disc bearers anyway. TR Blaster does absolutely nothing for me.

But I really hope for TakTom versions of these casettes having things tampographed, because these stickers gonna be very vulnerable.

 

Am i the only one that notices an open cavity in the side of Rewind's "not-cassette" mode? A cavity shaped like it would perfectly hold his gun? Neat design feature there!!!!

Also we see a hole alongside his right arm in bot mode, so you can peg his gun there like his G1 toy, so both hands are free (for glomping Chromedome!)

I don't know but I been collecting as an.adult.since 1996 (20 years now) not including the toys I had in.the 1980's as a young child and Hasbro changed their staff somewhere around the thrilling 30 because IMO they.have been strait knocking it out of the park ever since. And I have all the lines from Hasbro from BEAST WARS to the UNICRON TRILOGY to PRIME the live action movies & Classics/Universe/Generations and although I don't have the Titans Returns figures in hand, they strike me as a brilliant.concept & bar hollowness of today's toys, one of the best retail toy lines since I started collecting full scale back in '96!

Masterpiece isn't really full retail and the.ANIMATED line is the only line I can think if that was probably #1 but this line has a lot of others to compare to so being that.striking is definitely something of a gift

 

Rewind looks amazing, and my love for More Than Meets The Eye draws me to him. Stripes would work better if the tail was longer and his plane wings had a better place to go in robot mode (like folding down to his sides). As it is, I can't afford to splurge on a mediocre figure like him.

Rewind Sticker looks just like a his G1 self alt mode... A cassette tape!

 

I'm happy with Rewind, he'll go on the MP shelf.

The cat ones though - BLECH. Same for the birds.

 

I was sold on Rewind and Wheelie the first moment I saw them but Stripes is bleh. I'll probably end up getting the Takara versions though.

 

I want them all, yes even Stripes.

Actually Stripes is the least packed of the group. In a case of 8, there are 3 Wheelies, 3 Rewinds and 2 Stripes.

That is awesome.

 

Rewind still looks awesome, Stripes looks pretty cool too.
