I like the size of Apollyon and if you put him next to MP-10 they match up very well. If he were smaller MP-10 would be bigger than him.

That said, I actually agree Quakewave is too big. I just prefer slightly too big to too small. But I would probably be willing to accept MP-29's size (even if I weren't exactly happy with it) if he weren't also such an offensive color (imo).

Here's the thing. I don't think Quakewave is the superior figure. I agree he has blocky legs, his transformation isn't as nice, and his sculpt is not as good. And he's slightly too big. All that said, he looks better on my shelf to me than MP-29 by a wide margin. Quakewave (and to a lessor degree Quakeblast) captures the essence of Shockwave and my personal feelings regarding the MP aesthetic better than MP-29, even if MP-29 does a lot better.

As I said, a darker colored MP-29 that feels less like a cartoon/toy and more like a character translated from toon to a more "real life" aesthetic would probably replace Quakewave on my shelf, even if he were a bit too small.

    It's all good.

If I ever have QB, I'll prolly pose him specifically next to my MP-1 and my big SOCs.

Just coz I like big bots and I cannot lie...

Quakeblast is the winner in my book. And I do have Laserwave. It just lacks the presence and personality that Shockwave projects both in the comic and cartoon.

If you want good quality and cartoon accuracy...

    QUAKEWAVE!

If you want comic book accuracy and a cool chug shockwave.....

    QUAKEBLAST!

If you want a cheap overpriced figure that changes colors like the indominus Rex......

    Laserwave......

The original photos look horizontally stretched and make all the figures look terrible IMO :p

I have to say that's the worst pic of MP29 I've seen

Lol, I agree, by those pics, I'd be picking shockwave dead last. Quakeblast first. However, getting shockwave today and seeing other pics I know which is my favourite, the official is spot on to the toon.

I'll say this, for a simple premise giving everyone a side by side look at some toys some of you need to think about the tone of your posting. Is your personal preference really not worth some civility?

It's a poll, people aren't going to agree on everything, but if your appreciation for what you like/love is so wafer thin it gets this bent out of shape by what someone else thinks.........might be time to re-evaluate priorities a little.

Having choices are good. Be it Laserwave, Quakewave or Quakeblast.

No need to fan fires. There is something for everyone.
My 2 cents is official only guys are catered for and 3P guys are having options.
    Win-win situation.

No need anyone to talk anybody down.

Infringement? Copyright? Leave it to the legal folks and TT/Hasbro to trash it out.

First off, love the name. Star Wars Commtech/talk chips are a guilty pleasure of mine. Secondly, Shockwave has literally zero personality in both the comics and cartoon! He's like an evil Vulcan. Logic this and logic that.
I'm only joking, I know what you mean.
    ;)

As to Stevil33, dude has absolutely no agenda at all, he's not pro anything on these figures and doesn't deserve the bashing some people seem to feel is OK to dole out. It's true his photo's aren't the best but not everyone is a Maz or Sixo with the gear, setup and skillz so y'know. Cut some slack yeah? It's not I go into the Supah Clear thread and whige about oversaturated pics, or into the Cool Stuff threads and whine about some of the pictures there. Decorum folks. It costs nothing... well that's a lie, I suppose civility cost's the price of an edumacation.

Actually on topic, having seen all three at a recent pub meeting (which featured Stevil33's very own QB and my LW) I can say that while all three have their strengths and weaknesses Laserwave won out with me and indeed swayed the majority of us. Sure, he's not perfect, but neither is QW or QB! In terms of actual user friendliness LW easily wins out, his transformation is inspired and intuitive. One of the big things (for me) is his hose actually not crippling the figures left arm! Things like that, having a flexible spring coupled with LW's inspired arm design to include hose up or hose down configurations with a simple twist of a forearm are what set him above the other two. He's just more fun.

Having said that QB is a whole lot of robot for the price, and once his heels are fixed he's pretty darn good value. (Cue people accusing me of making up tall tales regarding QB's heels? No?) His light up eye is also awesome (but his laser arm less so).

It can be leveled that LW's transformation is simple but considering his origins as a G1 toy, a Cybertronian alt mode and his overall screen accuracy what do you want? Unnecessary steps?

Anyway I eagerly (actually no, not eager at all) await the inevitable quotes and accusations that 'of course tikgnat would back LW when it was his LW in the group test!'

I think I can accommodate you here...my detolf MP Decepticon Shelf right now....

And how it was before I put Lazerwave back in his box to sell on

Like a number of others here, I think Lazerwave has the best sculpt but the colour and size just throws him off. I doubt they'll ever upscale him but if the painted him a better colour he might replace Quakeblast as my favourite.

For me it's really close between the two. QB has the bulk and colour that, for me are must have's on a G1 Shockwave figure, however MP-29 has absolutely everything else. Show accuracy, a cleaner sculpt, nicer less fussy detailing, those little hooks on the back of the legs (I actually think its a mistake to fold those down), a good colour distinction between fists and body, a better looking (arm)cannon. It's just a shame that for me I can't reconcile the size and colour TT went with because upscaled and painted right there woulds be no contest for me.

TT Shockwave looks way better in that detolf then he does posed on the first page of this thread. Either way, I think having options is a good thing, no? Something different for everyone. I have QW, I'm completely happy with him. No issue that they made an official one or another version. Pick which one you like better and enjoy!

MP-29 is the Shockwave I've always wanted. He's just edged out Bumblebee to make it into my top five MPs (the others being, in no order, Optimus, Star Saber, Ultra Magnus, and Ironhide).

He's as close to images like these as I could've hoped for:

Why thank you! And yeah I totally agree, when I was disappointed by certain aspects of MP-29 I was thankful there were other options. I wouldn't normally go 3rd party but in this instance it was really good to have options.

Have to say that I'm pretty appalled at the tone some folks are taking with stevil33. He hasn't posted anything inflammatory or even offered a negative opinion on any of the three - just asked others what they think. I'd also say that if anyone should be entitled to give their opinion, it's him, as not many of us actually own all three versions. So why jump on him? We're supposed to be a community of fellow collectors, so perhaps we could approach each other and debates like this with a degree of civility?

I suddenly feel the need to post that phone pic from the evening! :D

'Twas a fun evening in the pub. The Quakewave in the pic is mine. My Lazerwave doesn't arrive until tomorrow (finally!) and I had never seen Quakeblast before. Like tikgnat says, all three are nice, and I was certainly impressed with QB, but I was seriously wowed by LW. Like really wowed. I will continue to love QW no doubt, but I'm really pleased that MP LW is upon us. I'll reserve further judgement until I actually have him in hand without a beer in the other. ;)

Dude he's the most accurate representation we have. Yea sure his legs are a little wider then they should be but everything else is 100% spot on.

Quakewave definitely is not 100% Spot on.
Legs are fat, feet are wrong shape and too wide.
    He's the wrong colour.
Shin plates are the wrong shape / profile.
Quakewave has no real knee pads, basically his bottom half is not the same as the cartoon version at all.
Sure the trigger chrome is in the right place on the legs but they are two square and not even correctly profiled.
Again, I think Quakewave is one of the best 3P figures out there.
As for the people bitching down on Steve, you're a really disappointing portion of the community and maybe need to regard the original post and question before starting the torrent of hate...

I absolutely love quakewave but I'd be lying to myself and others if I said he was more cartoon accurate that Takara effort.

The problem sixo is the minute a "official release" comes out people start treating, if there is one, the 3rd party option like it garbage, old and outdated. Then they say how the figure had issues that no one complained about until the Official one comes out. And in cases with QW vs LW People will deny that QW has better materials then him! Like that's not even a opinion it's a fact. QW=40% diecast,Silver paint, chrome LW=5% diecast and that's all.

    Rant over
