For sure. Sorry for any kind of "condescending" vibes that first post may have put off. But 9/10 there's typically always more to any story ;)

The language is also expressed ONLY under the room to room trading clause. It isn't under general guidelines. Pete has even said (on the Cybercast) that people (attendees) won't be removed for just having it.
It seems like it's intended for those who are wanting to participate in room to room trading.
So in short. It probably isn't wise to bring the stuff on property, nor is it wise to hand out flyers on the premesis to another event, nor is it wise to tape signs all over the hotel about where "such & such" room sales are.
Funny, not only is it good etiquette to not do those things, but they are all problems at last year's Botcon. Hhmmmmm....

Yeah, unless the impression that this really is the last Botcon has been overstated- I would think the last hurrah would be a good time to to relax and have more fun. What's the worst that will happen? Will Hasbro take their Botcon license? :banghead:

While i don't remember tweeting out before hand that no pictures were allowed then followed it up with a picture. I apologize for not being able to exactly remember what happened two years ago. After i screwed up, i apologized to the community and went up to Pete at the convention and freely offered to turn my badge in and remove myself from the remainder of the convention as a consequence for my actions. Everyone likes blowing this up like i'm some kind of "internet celebrity" and that i think i'm above the rules. I don't and i never said anything of the nature. It could be said that i wasn't given any sort of punishment, but that doesn't mean i didn't feel i was subject to punishment, even (as i said) willing to self impose a punishment on myself for breaking the rules. I've even offered to hand my phone over during the Hasbro panel this year. I hope that clears up some of what went down further that year.

Now back to our regularly scheduled program....

I can understand this for the Hasbro panel but aside from that it's rather silly, particularly for stuff like the script readings or the video competitions. Not like they actually bother recording it themselves. They could probably have sold a few dvds of convention panels if they did but they don't.

I didn't even have to click the post to know what this was about. I already knew, based on the convention's history and the growing silent war between HasTak and 3Ps.

Does it even matter at this point? This is purportedly the final Botcon, and is at least the final FP-run con, so they probably figure they can kick people out because hey, fuck it, who cares if we piss people off when this is the last rodeo?

I don't understand WHY just carrying a 3P toy would be an offense. I can get why they wanted to curb sales of 3P toys at dealer rooms and such, but banning people for even possessing them, even if they were bought previously?

Jesus Christ, no wonder people had such a hate/hate relationship with Fun Pub.

It's not Hasbro making the rules' it's FunPub.

It has nothing to do with "being cheap" either. Third Parties have unlimited budget to work on shit. Hasbro doesn't.

Technically, I don't think Takara is a Hasbro licensee so this also prohibits Takara products.

From what I've seen, majority of these rules are from Hasbro. Funpub has to enforce them, but even then, when I've seen them actually enforced, Hasbro had to get FP to do it. And usually, its not a one strike deal, they'll give you a chance to comply before taking any action.

The punishment is seeing a grown-ass man frantically running through the halls of a hotel, ripping fliers off walls, bulletin boards, and even hotel room doors.

Drama, drama, drama. This is just another weak argument like the bed bug argument from last year. They are not going to do anything to anybody walking around with a 3P product in their hand. Please.

It's another "I hate FP and/or Botcon so I'm going to try to discredit them in any (weak) way that I can. 3rd Party and TFCon forever!" thread. It's getting annoying and tiresome.

I highly doubt the security there will be able to detect a 3rd party figure. Geeze just recently Hasbro had MakeToys Giant in one of their ads

That's not what JoeFund, er, FunPub said. I assume you skipped the first post.

Don't worry: You'll hear a lot less complaining about them next year.

Yes, yes they will, and you'll be forced to wear the Optimus Prime 3d glasses the entire time till they cut into your very skin!

Oh do they now? That must be why each one that opens never shuts down.. Oh wait..

Is Zero Tolerance an exclusive to the con? If so will there be preorders for pickup?

How can Hasbro have a limited budget and 3rd party companies who might be 5 guys/girls in an office who apparently all have full time day jobs not be on a limited budget. Your making no sense at all. I think its the other way around. Hasbro chooses not to spend the money. 3rd party companies must have a budget and I think they do pretty good for what they have to work with. Your saying a billion dollar company can't spend more than a mom and pop toy company.

The 3rd party thing is what it is. It's Hasbro's show and their rules. But the idea that FP, or even Hasbro for that matter, would attempt to control when a human can conduct a legal activity in a hotel room paid for by said human is laughable at best and pathetic at worst. Unless you are paying for my room (I'm not attending, btw), don't attempt to tell me what to do or the time frame in which I can do it.
