Tell me about it, the composers of the most iconic music in the whole franchise can't even be let into in the hall of fame. I just don't even know what to say anymore.

This whole HOF thing has become a joke at this point. Still can't believe people are voting for Inferno, the guy did literally nothing noteworthy in the entirety of BW.

That's why he's in the Favourite Underrated Characters category. Tarantulas and Cosmos are hardly underrated unless you compare them to guys like Optimus and Bumblebee.

It's a fictional character. He's not gonna do anything noteworthy until a writer stops "underrating" him. That's why the category is a good idea, sadly it's still a polularity contest so it's probably gonna be won by the guy who appeares most in fiction.

I'm not sure I understand. Are you saying that the category is a "good idea" because you imagine that some writer will see the results and think "Oh, I should start writing more stories about that guy!"?

I think I said this in the on-site round of polls, but I'll say it here in case I didn't: I'm pretty sure underrated in this context means a character who has done something worth recognition or was a character worthy of being recognized for whatever reason (like a personality trait or something), but never got said recognition. That's just my understanding though. And personally I think Cosmos is the most deserving of the three. He's a UFO for cryin out loud. Inferno and Tarantulas were just over-grown bugs. Some BW characters are tough since the series didn't do a whole lot to begin with for the franchise and hasn't stuck in the minds of as many fans as G1. So a character like Tarantulas seems to sit on the line between underrated and sufficiently recognized by the community because while he's a popular BW character, he isn't a character like Primal, simply because he was in a series like BW.

I digress, IMO a UFO beats yet another evil bug. SO much more he could offer if he were to have the recognition others have. In general it seems those with space alt modes aren't as recognized unless you're Sky Lynx; even then it's only cause he's an arrogant "WTF is that thing?" beast.

This certainly echoes my own reasoning, although I'll be the first to suggest that this category was ill-defined, and probably doomed from the start.

An interesting take. My thought is more along these lines: "Is his popularity in proper proportion to what he deserves?" Now, obviously, this is about as subjective a rule as one can possibly have. Still, I think Tarantulas has either EXACTLY has much popularity/recognition as he deserves, or TOO MUCH. Either of these interpretations would preclude him from being "underrated," and thus I could never vote for Tarantulas in such a category.

This is also why I could say (as I have done elsewhere) that I could have made a case for G1 Inferno being "underrated," while I really can't make such a case for BW Inferno. Yes, BW Inferno has a fanbase (far more, so far as I can subjectively determine, than G1 Inferno), but he's insanely popular despite doing very little besides being a lunatic. G1 Inferno never really got the recognition that I think his potential should have demanded.

But, again (and to the point of belaboring the point), I recognize that this is HUGELY subjective, and think that this CATEGORY was always a bad idea.

(I don't happen to think the HOF, itself, is a bad or doomed idea, but I think its execution in recent years has been awful. The musical group category is another that I think has no business existing. Certainly not before a "best human character" category has ever even been tried.)

I'm saying it's a good idea to bring lesser known characters to the attention of the general fandom.
I'm saying the category defeats it's purpose, because a character needs to be popular in order to be voted in ;)

My vote goes to Jablonsky, he contributed the score to the four movies, I would have preferred Kinder and Bryant. Lion at least created a new song for the animated movie, even if it's based heavily on the original theme. Weird Al has one song and it wasn't even written for the movie. It was just a fun song taken off one of his early albums.

As for the character votes. I'm leaning more towards Galvatron, though I feel all 3 options make sense. All the obvious choices are already in.

Underrated I'm for Inferno. None of the options are obvious in anyway, which I think is the point. Fans know who they are, but most non-fans have no clue. I think this category would have been perfect for Erector. I was strongly against him for the normal hall of fame, but should be let it without a vote. For some it was a joke nomination, but for others it was serious, either way the character rose to prominence as a result.

Wait, what? You explicitly said before "that's why the category is a good idea" and now say "the category defeats it's purpose"?

    I give up.

    Ehh still sticking with Tarantulas.

    >Jablonsky
    >a hack

His music is legit one of the few things I love about the movies. In general when compared to other film composers like Williams, Elfman, Zimmer and many others, his work always tends to be overlooked because it's usually in "bad" movies. You can't tell me that Arrival to Earth doesn't give you any actual emotions.

I can't recollect the movies' music. Weird AL and lion would also not get my vote. Only thing I would vote, would be Galvatron.

This is actually a pretty fair argument, but I simply cannot bring myself to ever vote in the affirmative for anything that has no connection to Transformers outside of those awful live-action movies.

If and when a decent live-action movie comes out, I may reconsider.

I feel the same. Also the movies are only a little part of Transformers history.

Although, Lion and Weird Al are both even smaller, by that logic.
