That pic isn't about aesthetics, it's showing he's a touch shorter than Soundwave and a head taller than Starscream. Reading the Shockwave thread it's like they made him Bumblebee height.

I gotta laugh at these knee jerk reactions on every MP release though. 9 times out of 10 it's after a shitty photo session too. Give it a few weeks and most will be creaming themselves declaring how wrong they were and how amazing he is.

Ehh, regarding shockwave, i'm more than happy to get one and give him a chance. For me (and I know this may vary for some) MPs have been on a consistent roll for a good while and both ironhide and rodimus looked a little lacking in pictures but I loved them once in hand. Not pre-emptively selling quakewave quite yet though, and i don't think i could, regarless of how many times his legs have caused me injuries!

Well the official threads are always a zoo. Most may well be jizzing because that's what they do when a new box arrives.......don't think I will unless they do a grey version. MP Hot Rod is the only one I've liked since Bee and this guy isn't working for me either just yet.

That's fair enough man. 'New Toy Joy' probably does account for some of it but I think there will be a wedge who get swept up in the negativity and then genuinely do a 180 in hand. That's if they haven't cancelled because the pantone is a fraction off.

Talking of NTJ.....Buzzing today. Quite looking forward to this one.

Buzzing is excellent. My sleeper-hit of the year so far.

That's not what I meant. I'm not talking about retail stores like TRU or Smyths, but speciality stores like Kapow and TFs Express. After all, Robotkingdom lists Groove as an online exclusive like Quickslinger and Brake-Neck. Does anyone remember how much those figures cost at Kapow or another store?

I'm sure MP Shockwave will be a great figure, as nearly all MPs are. The pics aren't doing it any favours, for sure, but as we all know the same can be said about Ironhide and arguably even Hot Rod and they both turned out fab. At the same time, I reckon I'll be sticking firmly in the Quakewave camp on this one. Such an awesome figure.

    Happy Birthday.

My Shockwave will always be comic Shockwave. MP Shockwave is NOT comic Shockwave.

This is pretty much how i'm feeling too. There's been a recent trend for stuff to look not all that great in photos and then be a ton of fun in hand. So, i'll be waiting to see if this trend keeps up.

Yeah, totally awesome figure, that's one i keep picking up and playing around with. Solid as a brick and posable as anything else out there. Wish the targetmaster wasn't a piece of crap though. I'm thinking of actually gluing his targetmaster gun mode together as the large rifle looks so much better than the two small ones.

    Happy Birthday! :bday

It's mint. The darker purple paint job is utterly gorgeous in the flesh and the design is improved massively from the overpriced Quakewave. It's a very strong figure that can hold some really dynamic poses.

    If you're a comic fan it's a must buy.

See this is where my problem lies! I'm a big fan of the toon and of the comic.... But I always see Shockwave as a chunky fucker in my head, mainly because of the comic. Got MP Shocky paid and pre ordered so let's see how he is when he lands. But might bump it on and go QB if I don't like it.

    And happy birthday joe :thumb

    Happy birthday!

Thanks for reminding me, I bought him a while ago but still haven't opened him yet, sounds like a good plan for the easter weekend :)

Have to admit I agree with you, I read the comics *way* before I saw most of the cartoon so I always think of Shockwave in that way.

I've got a Veer with a broken thumb I have absolutely no use for, if that's any help.

    Joe - Happy Birthday!

RE: Shockwave, I'll probably get one, the way my collecting seems to be leaning lately. Anyone who's seen any of my absurd 3P toy collection pics knows I'm not a HasTak "purist"/snob, but I've always had a really hard time getting into the idea of "MP"-style 3P stuff, especially when there's an official toy, and doubly so when the prices are all in the £55+ range anyway.

Some sales funded the G2 Superion I've had set aside at Orbital for a while, so that was added to what I've reallised is a horrifically large pile of CW combiners...

    What's worse is that
    a) I've still got some torso-bots and a limb or two unused in this pic and
    b) This doesn't include the Takara Guardian/Defensor I've not had shipped over from Japan yet...

Ironhide, Rodimus, Ultra Magnus, Star Saber, Bumblebee, Wheeljack, the Datsuns....all saw a ridiculous amount of moaning but once in hand opinions were overwhelmingly positive.

You'd think some of the folks in those threads would have learned by now to stop jumping to the extreme conclusion, but nope.

Kapow sold them for £17.99 each. Quite reasonable really.
