That was the old Legends class no one really liked because they had zero arm articulation. And there's Cloud Brawn, I guess, but Prime Bulkhead doesn't work for his body at all. I suppose you could repurpose ROTF Beachcomber for the time being.

So...I am the only one who liked that size class.

Still, they had more articulation that Micromasters.

Meh, it's all contextual... adversaries, opponents, nemeses, etc... in so much as we're two people who piss each other off, hold drastically different views on politics, personal propriety, society, and morality, and have frequently butted heads over all these things within the context of a toy robot forum... I'd say we're "enemies". It's rare we're on the same side, after all. But it's not like I'd cut your brake lines or anything. :)

    ...

I'd have to travel to do that. :p

There are definitely 'train' cues there... if you squint at them long enough... but I don't feel like they work overall. Or those elements that are train-ish are overpowered by the elements that are not very train-ish. The end result is a sort of vaguely scifi-ish chimera that just doesn't really suit the figure well. So yeah, that's the most disappointing part.

I also tend to have a bias towards Earth-modes (especially on characters who have traditionally had Earth modes), because the sense of illusionism and 'disguise' comes off better... but also because I find futuristic or "cybertronian" modes are often where designers will often cut corners the most.

    Barely.

I liked the old Legends scale, but the quality of the designs did vary quite a bit. It was very hit-or-miss. Part of me would have liked to see them hit all the old G1 regulars in that scale... they got close. Plus, they go nicely with Metroplex. :)

I like the new Legends too, but when they started to get slack with the remolds (Huffer/Pipes from Optimus, Warpath from Megatron, etc) I started to lose interest.

They had to work out a lot of kinks in the movieverse in the old Legends scale. Also, like the old, the new has good and bad toys. For every Powerglide there's a Shockwave. For every Cosmos there's a Tailgate. There's the good and the bad in every line.

I won't deny that when I have been waiting for a new Astrotrain, I was hoping for something akin to Springer and Blitzwing, where it was still the same basic toy but modernized. I think the thing that bugs me about the train with this new one is it looks like an entire train as opposed to just the engine.

That said, I love the bot mode and I suspect I will be very happy once I have him in hand.

i am digging astrotrain, the weaponized/cybertronian diesel looks badass with the mad max-esque plow and all the turrets hell it you want to make it different from sentinel use the shuttle nose halves to make it a bullet train with some reprolabels for windows and use the diesel portions as feet we should have a steamer for a train but i'm okay with this the real problem is lack of paint detail, its suppose to be this massive looking shuttle and it has no paint on the cockpit windows, even in the renders, just that simple thing would make it look better, hopefully takara can save this version of the mold though i do like the toy accuracy

Now we just need a Voyager Octane and a new Broadside (who's been rumored for TR anyway) and we'll have all the original triple changers in proper size classes, updated.

There's a lot to be said about the maturity to respectfully disagree; I'm just glad that the proper open-mindedness, tolerance, and the sense of diversity and inclusion along in this marketplace of free ideas are reflected in the relationship that we share and the topics we have discussed and are present even here.

I'm half and half on this. You have Megatrons from the likes of Animated, the 07 movie, and Prime who turn into flying lumps of petrified something. But you also have WFC models, or Cybertron models, or Generations Springer, or G1 Cyclonus who certainly don't turn into real things but still look recognizable as things. Cyclonus isn't any particular jet, but he's a cool jet. Springer isn't really a Jeep, but he has Jeepy enough elements to look good.

Animated Megatron was a helicopter, at least after Series 1.
