Special thanks to Fireflash for this one.

Back Row Chatter has posted up an interview with Tom DeSanto, where the interviewer asks him about the Dinobot clip found on the Sector Seven website. DeSanto had this to say:

I'm now hoping a sequel gets made solely to see just what this cool idea of his might be and to see some big screen gestalt action.

Huh? How could giant metal dinosaurs disguise themselves in modern world?

Well I'm guessing after the events of the 1st film the disguises would be kinda redundant

I guess the same way Scorponok could? Awesome I'd love for Dinobots in the sequel.

TF2 will take place in a theme park where all the rides and attractions are more than meets the eye.

Or maybe the dinobots will just eschew disguises and stomp all over everyone in a gleeful display of carnage and destruction. I'm hoping for the latter.

They could if we all replace our cars with giant metal dinosaurs and pilot them around and stuff. Man, that would rule. I'd get a Slag and throw fire on slowpokes.

I hope they don't forget Snarl!

I'm guessing that's part of the cool idea he mentioned. Perhaps because the TFs are publicly known after the first movie (they have a huge battle in the middle of a city, I'd say that'd be pretty public knowledge!) some are so hard headed they decide not to bother with disguise anymore.

Ehm, I know alot of you are fond of the Dinobots, but the idea of maybe having them in a potential sequel movie strikes me as really odd. I don't think it's a good idea.

    possibly.

But yeah how would they pull this off. I can kinda picture it in the beginning
Tonight on CNN, traces of once thought to be extinct creatures, did some Dinosaurs survive?
Both factions rush to find them to fight over them yadda yadda yadda

All I know is that the Shockwave origin for them will be more fitting than the cartoon one.

I'd rather have the Constructicons. Maybe Bonecrusher gets beaten up so bad in the movie they need to build a new body. Then in TF2, the other Constructicons are built, and Devastator will be in the climax.

OK, if Steven Spielberg is still in the production team for EP2, that wouldn't hurt to have Jurassic Park somehow involved in this universe.....LOL

I've been calling this all along. They need Wheeljack and the Dinobots (at least Grimlock) in the sequel. And I think that'd be plenty of new faces for the Autobots. Maybe Prowl if they have a really good idea for him so people don't confuse him with Barricade.

If done well, that could be awesome. But if Spiderman 3 and X-Men 3 taught us anything, it's not to try and put too much long-time-fan stuff at the expense of alienating/overwhelming the casually movie-going public. Also, there's a risk of thinning down the subject matter if too many subjects are thrown in and covered in a 2 hour span.

As for how dinosaurs could be considered disguises (whether metal or organic), I saw a design from someone on this board that basically had Grimlock as a triple changer - some sort of large, treaded construction vehicle in one mode, robot in another, and robotic dinosaur in the third. Something like that might work.

As far as the public knowing about them...well at the risk of dropping spoilers, I've read that the government goes into weather-balloon mode at the end of the movie.

    Can you just imagine?

If the Constructicons showed up and there is no size shifting involved...just imagine how big Devastator would be! There's no way the Dinobots could fight something the size of a 10 story building.

They would have to find some way of making the Contructicons smaller or make the Dinobots larger. I dig the idea, it would just be interesting to see how it played out.
