Mine is spelled properly it was the last bit that convinced me to buy. I would be annoyed as hell to have the names spelled wrong.
All my MP Cars up to but not including Tracks have been KO's (because I came late to collecting MPs and couldn't justify the crazy US$ pricing plus international shipping plus murderous currency conversion - the KOs work out to be 1/3 the price of the originals. My Sideswipe is ironically the only one with a problem. Half way through the first transformation his left arm came off. The pin holding it on had a super thin head (almost aluminium foil thin) and the pin head snapped right off. One day I may be able to re-attach it with a new pin but for now he wields his own arm as a club. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arm-Fall-Off-Boy
I have the KO Sideswipe. Bought it at the time when the legit versions were fetching £100+ on the secondary market. The KO was £20 inc shipping so it was a no brainer. No problems as such apart from the panels on the arms have rubbed the paint from the hinge a little. However, the KO MP Red Alert has a few bits wrong with him. The knees are super loose, his right arm was glued at the hinge due to too much adhesive applied on the false wheel on his arm and I had to shave a tiny amount of plastic from his head to get it to close properly. For what was paid for them, I got what I expected. They fill the gaps well and were a fraction of the price of the TT versions.
A warning for those looking to get KO red alert @ sideswipe: - Tab in lower spine does not lock in (on sideswipe) - Tab in the abdomen does not fit the hole in the tip of the hood (both SS and RA) These issues cause his upper body does not get locked in. From what I saw on KO review, it sounds like its a dice roll when you buy these KO's. Some people have no such issues and some do. other than that there is some minor fitting issue on both.
I recently picked one of these up I got a good deal on him and other than the thing T4 mentioned above (the white tab does not line up with the slot in the bottom of the bumper) and the flap that flips out to fill in the sides of the inner leg is missing the pin (but once the tab is locked into the red panel and the tail light panel is locked into place into the notch on the black panel it stays in nicely). I plan on fixing the tab/slot issue in the future I mostly got him cause I wanted him to go with my G1 and ROTF Swipes.
Correct, but the ab tab and slot can be fixed by either shaving the post -tab down half a millimeter or widening the hole to fit the post tab on the spine. This was my solution and once it all fits, the tab is super secure. But you are correct about the role of the dice. I think, you know what you're in for if you but anything labeled 'KO'. Most of the time anyway.
Is there any new info on it? I've only seen the one pic, and I don't even think I've seen a manufacturer name.
is there a separate Thread for the KO OS Sideswipe? Link? also there's a listing for the OS and is the seller zhengwuxiaguang8 legit?
I'd be extremely wary of this, they started off selling $1-$2 beads in big numbers, and now have mp transformers for sale, this is classic scammer behaviour. I've been done twice in the last 12 months now, only using bababobo00712 from ebay for TF's going forward.
Thanks . Yep, exactly why I needed to ask about it. Ever since the Z-lu scam. I'm just not as eager to buy from these overseas sellers. I'll wait to see if Babo...712 gets this in stock.
I'm a collector with a very limited budget. I want to collect the smaller Masterpiece figures (Autobot cars and below) but I can't afford the $80 a pop for the Autobot cars. Welp I was able to score a KO MP-12 for $25 shipped. I read every post in this thread and for that price, I figured what the hell. I wasn't sure what to expect but, based on the replies to this thread I thought that Sideswipe would still be pretty decent. I should've set my expectations alot lower than what I did. That was my fault. This figure is a piece of shit. The legs at the hips are loose and floppy. The codpiece is loose and won't stay in place. The chest won't tab in even after clearing out the hole in the bumper and shaving the tab in the torso a little. The left arm is loose and floppy. The head is loose. It's practically a bobble head. The right rear fender in car mode has a large brush stroke in the red paint. Then there's the usual problems. The shoulder cannon won't stay tabbed in. The gun won't tab in the hand at all. The worst part is, I already bought the KFC hands and reprolabels for the figure. But I'm not putting that stuff on this piece of shit figure. I'm stuck having to try and buy an Authentic MP-12 so I can use the reprolabels and the KFC hands that I stuck myself with. Very disappointed. But it's my own fault for trying to cut corners with a knockoff figure instead of supporting HasTak.
Even if SS is the first and the worst carbot KO, mine is not that bad, at all. Well, even the official has got a lower QC than the Datsuns and WJ... Tracks is probably the best one among the KO cars. But Weijang and BBQ are on another level...
I've heard good things about KO Wheeljack and KO Tracks. But, after my experience with this Sideswipe, I'm very nervous about going with another knockoff. I wish I could continue to give them a chance. But I'm not sure.
Sorry to hear you got a real dud there, TyrantGalvatron. Mine is not that bad at ALL. And I've been playing with it for years.
Thanks. I got mine off a seller on Facebook. It wasn't the seller's fault. I knew what I was getting myself into. I'm thinking this copy may be one of the very early versions of the knockoff. The box didn't even have the Transformers logo on it and the Lamborghini and Countach are still misspelled on the back of the car. Does anyone know if any of the latest copies of the knockoff have gotten better from a quality standpoint?
Sorry to hear. I had the opposite experience and was quite happy with the quality of my KO SS. Most of my carbots are KO's and quality seems really to be luck of the draw. Sometimes you get a lemon, sometimes you get a jewel. p.s. I got most of mine from sellers Lcukboy and bababobo
Sorry to bring this thread back from the dead, but I recently bought a MP-12 off eBay that said it was a second run and I was wondering if there was an updated list of differences between fakes and real ones as I have suspicions. The seller also included real metal amazon piledrivers?
