Detritus is a desert-y repaint of G1 Hound and a Junkion (he even has a goatee! lol).

The Mitsubishi J59 is basically a licensed Willys vehicle and they are often still referred to as Mitsubishi J59 "Willys" Jeeps. It's just not the old WWII Willys vehicle.

A thread full of guys wishing their willys were smaller. Life still manages to surprise me.

Yeah, unfortunately the silver underneath prevents it from being the color that it really should be.

In regards to the vehicle mode scale, I gotta say, you guys have made a great case for the J59 being properly in scale. I sure always thought of him as the smaller WW2 Jeep, but he does indeed seem to have more in common with the J59. That is one big-ass jeep. Now if only FT had left the Mitsubishi outline on the front...

Yeah that video pretty much seals it for me. This guy will indeed be my first FT figure. Any estimate on when he should be shipping out, based on past figures?

Oh and I think the scale is fine. Robot mode looks spot on; he's [most of the time] the same height as the car bots, specifically Mirage, not sure where the idea that he's shorter is from. Alt mode isn't perfect, but then alt mode scale for MPs is pretty loose anyway, and he's not as far off as some are thinking.

I think the idea of his bot mode being slightly shorter stems from the conception of him being a WW2 style jeep which should obviously be smaller than a typical sports car in length. That was my perception anyway. But everyone here has made a great case that he should be exactly the same height as the rest of the carbots and that even his alt mode is pretty reasonable.

Good job guys. This is how a forum should be. Open discussion and opinion without the defensiveness and ridicule :thumb

This is all well and good but all these jeeps shown have big tires. Hound has little skinny ass tires. He wouldn't sit so high with stock tires. Just saying ;)

FT has Takara beat when it comes to tires on carbots. Gotta love the rubber tires.

Dalianjj said June sometime. So by Ft standards probably more toward August/September. Who knows maybe we will be pleasantly surprised.

I suspect June will be accurate. It's already pushed back from dalianjj's original estimate, and usually when they get this close he's pretty spot on. See Mercenary and Spotter as an example.

As for the size of the alt mode, Shiro, I think it's still far too big...but not nearly as bad as if he were a traditional WWII Willys Jeep. In any event, I'm not fussed about alt mode scale.

It's not that I wish he was shorter, it's that I wish the alt mode was just a bit smaller. Still, he's going to be in bot mode the entire time anyway, plus with the way these MP style figures work, bigger usually means the transformations mechanisms are more easily accessible and less maddening.

Why do people ask about release dates if they're only going to add on 2-3 months? You might as well throw out irrelevant and arbitrary fantasy dates always. That way when the actual product ships you'll either be surprised by randomly hitting close to the target or be smugly satisfied in your pessimism.

Please correct me if I'm wrong but FT's hasn't really done MP carbots. I think I'd trust the experience of BC for example for those (Jazz, Trailbreaker). Their Sunstreaker is nearly perfect.

You are correct, Fanstoys has not put out a figure with a vehicle mode yet. However, their releases have all landed in the very good to excellent spectrum, so I can only assume most folks are expecting them to maintain that level of quality and attention to detail. Besides, their Reflector and two Insecticons show that they can make a robot turn into a box... and, really, what is a toy car but a box with wheels on it?

I'm in the 'assume it will be fine until proven otherwise' camp.
