MP Ratchet is totally out of scale...





I know, it's an old gag. But it still makes me chuckle.

 

Cartoon schmartoon, where's my red helmet!?

 

Even though I hate the face, they did make G2 Sideswipe with that stupid snarling face...the toy never had that. I have no desire for a comic Ratchet as I basically hate reading comics, and care nothing for the story lines, but I see no reason he wont have a shot at being made, there are differences enough.

I wan to see that Green Ratchet made, I missed out on that magazine exclusive G1 one, but I liked how it looked.

In the comic book pages...

Interesting way of looking at it. When it comes to season 1&2 characters I generally go with what was consistently done on the screen, ie for the most part of the season 1&2 episodes, when it comes to season 3 characters....the Movie is reference of preference!

And if I recall correctly, I think for the most part of seasons 1&2 Ratchet had crosses on both arms, so that's how I prefer him and will sticker him up once in hand.

It's interesting that everyone has "their" version of a character they more strongly identify with. It's kinda funny that Ratchet and Shockwave are the next two regular numbered MPs - on the cartoon, one was a grouchy-but-well-meaning medic, and the other was an inept mall cop with unwavering loyalty to Megatron, but in the comic, Ratchet was a big player and helped the Autobots in major ways, and Shockwave was a power-mad master planner and rival to Megatron.

Of course, I'll always hold the grouch and the inept yes man near and dear to my heart, but everyone should be happy that two fan favorites finally have MPs! Really, that's a win for all of us.

Looks like I'm going to get Ratchet, Shockwave, and Ramjet all in the same shipment next month.

 

I was gonna suggest that myself. All you need is some acrylic paint such as Citadel or Vallajo miniature paints and either matt or gloss varnish depending how shiny you want it to look and bang non-chip red head.

 

So when will ratchet be released? last week of April?

 

23rd according to Takara Tomy's online store, 30th according to Amazon.co.jp (which previously said the 23rd too).

So, decisions, decisions... Given that Marvel Ratchet is one of my favourite characters (whereas I never cared for Sunbow Ratchet), is painting the head and a couple of stripes enough? He'll be a bit of mix, then, seeing as Marvel Ratchet had a white crotch, but painting that area white would be a nightmare as it would get scratched to hell during transformation (and I'm not a good enough customiser to fix that).



Hmm, yeah, I think I can live with the comic-inaccurate red crotch. I'm getting two so one will stay cartoon-accurate... I maybe I could create some white stickers for the front of the pelvis.

Nice  . I think the new Reprolabels set is coming with some Red Cross stickers

 

Here is Reprolabels sticker set for Ratchet. Finally the red crosses are done right! No need for an exacto knife. Just peel and paste. The set includes labels for the forehead crest in metalic grey for the cartoon look and red for the comic look. I can now toss my annoying Ocean Designs dry transfers sheet in the trash!!
