Holy ****. Now I see why they left the first few pages out. Called Prime though. Immediately telling us why it's named what it's named. 2 Predictions. The gun is a fusion cannon, Tarns, but mistaken as Megatrons. 2 there may be more Autobot traitors. But this is shaping up to be a good finale.

Let's hope whoever is going to be killing all them doesn't know how to use it. I suspect it's going to be pretty big when we find out what it does. Like key to some horrible doomsday threat, or summons Unicron, or antimatter generator that destroys the universe.

Jeez, Chromedome says probably the most heartfelt thing you could ever say to someone you love and Rewind totally doesn't even mention him. What an asshole.  

That, and Optimus wanting to personally go rescue them were about the only thing that registered for me. I just can't get into "whoooo's gonna die!?" situations like these anymore, too transparent. We've done them like a million times and the answer is always "basically no one who matters." Remember when Overlord went on a rampage and killed all of five people, three of which we'd never even seen before? Or when the DJD killed the entire Lost Light, except that was totally undone? It's like when comics used to kill of characters as publicity stunts. Nautica's half-smashed face would be more of a shocker if she was at all a character worth caring about.

I really hope the issue itself is better because these previews just aren't doing it.

 

Part of me is wondering whether Nightbeat wanting his head removed might be foreshadowing Titans Return or if it's just a mythology gag. Swell either way.

 

Canon? Is it Tarn? Because megatron got his removed right?

 

Oh I'd like to add that it was nice to see Optimus's trying to find a way to get there in time to save them. It's good to see Optimus doing something unambigusly heroic.

Read the iTunes Asia leaked release of this. It's good. It's reallly, really fucking good. MTME season 1 good. Massively enjoyed it, and I have been a major critic of MTME's season 2. People will fucking love this issue.

 

Ehhh... MtMtE's pulled off far, far too many fake-out deaths for me to take this seriously. I mean, everybody has "died" at least once already -- we just HAD people recover from turning into inside-out balls and Cyclonus turn out just fine after being gunned down. Come on now.

 

I don't think Rung turns into a weapon. I think his alt-mode gives him an ability which somehow undermines the political power of the Functionists (hence the scene in the Functionist universe where they have him captured).

I also really liked Optimus's reaction here: that selfless, fatherly concern and heroism really came through.
