I've been sharing WIP on this on my Facebook customs page for a few weeks now on & off. I had decided to do a custom Blast Off when I wasn't sure we were getting an official one. Once I saw, I was glad I made the decision to do one. I had seen a few CW Blast Off customs, but none quite captured the look or feel I was going for. For the most part, the wings were what always threw me off on the other customs. They weren't bad, but they were either over the arms in alt mode or under & small. They looked more like winged missiles a bit. But overall, great concepts.

I just wanted to do one that looked more like a space shuttle & have it transform without any removable parts. I used a junker Classics Astrotrain for the wings, balljoints, & arms. I removed the pins in the wings & the rotor from the Alpha Bravo mold. Anyone familiar with that mold can see the parts I scavenged. I also used a tiny bit of styrene to create the bug eyes ol' Blast Off had, then took a needle file to the existing Alpha Bravo faceplate to smooth it out.

    Enjoy!

Yea buddy! Glad to see this here. Very well designed transformation, the Astrotrain parts work perfectly here. And I don't mind the missile arms either...after all he is a Combaticon!

Gericault actually did the same thing, using Classics Astrotrain parts to make a Blast Off out of Alpha Bravo

Curious how this take will turn out

    Thanks, guys!

His combiner port wasn't usable & it was a different look for the arms. He also utilized the entire pinned section of Astrotrain, where I simplified it & transform it differently. This still combines & I'll share combined mode arm pics soon. His is great, but I'm wanting something more streamlined & less intrusive in bot mode, alt mode, & combined mode.

Someone needs to stick either Rook's taser in the top, or something else to simulate the payload arm. That way at least the hole on top makes sense!

    Fantastic!
Really surprised HAS/TAK didn't go this rout. It's like they intended to... but changed their mind.

I have been toying with this idea...most folks use the heli mold to create balst off uses the nose of the heli as the front. But, I think this mold has a lot of potential used in the opposite direction.

While I can totally appreciate the skills that went into this print, the pure old school bashing on punk's work is much more to my liking. Props to both of you for these additions to the community.

Not into the reverse direction stuff or parts-formations. I've held off doing one of my own and now I'm glad I did. I love this wip. I thank you so much for sharing. Since I have a couple junker a-trains, this will be inexpensive as well. You rock

Hey, I don't think they meant any harm in commenting. It's completely fine to share it in here & discuss. I'm cool with it & I've been a fan of your heads & parts for a while. I also like your take on this & admire the hard work you put into the design on yours.
