Why are you choosing to buy RiD'15 toys over Generations toys?

Zero collecting this line, although have been tempted to get certain ones like Jazz, Drift and Sideswipe. I do watch the toon though and it's not bad, not as good as Prime though. So hopefully I don't break and get them all :p

I like the series just not the aesthetic.

I bought the 1 step Prowl because I'm a huge g1 Prowl fan and it was better painted than the original mold

Because I can find them on the shelves. I crave plastic, and they're fun. I'd like to buy Generations, but that's not enough reason for places to stock them.
Anyway, everyone is capable of having fun with Strongarm.

I bought Sideswipe because I collect Sideswipes, but I rather regret picking up the RID15 version. The beastly Decepticons, on the other hand, are just fun sculpts and I plan on getting them all.

I also pick up the Legends/Legion/whatever the tiny class is called now because I enjoy the sculpts and they're an easy way to populate my Fortress Maximus.

I don't purchase any. The design language just does not do it for me, and there haven't been any really interesting or cool alt modes. Plus, the only toys I have seen are typically the one step changers, and those don't do it for me. But, if you guys like the line, that's just great. If it makes you happy, that's a good thing. As for me, I do more Generations.

Doubtful. The plastic formula that caused GPS has been, if you believe Hasbro, phased out for years.

I think it's just an assumption based on the faulty elbow design and the fact that the plastic happens to be "gold" in color.

As for the topic at hand: I've got all the CW deluxes I need and am only after two more voyagers: Sky Lynx and Onslaught. The RiD toys, warrior class decepticons in particular, are really unique and interesting from a design standpoint. Still after Fracture, Thunderhoof, and Quillfire.

I went for TF15 figures as I wanted to see how the new line was. I got bored with it being mainly Autobots and shifted towards Combiner Wars. Now though the line is adding more deluxe Decepticons and I'm not into the Ark cast as Combiners.

Money goes to what interests me.

I'm buying both, for sure, but I buy RID because I just simply enjoy it.

Their transformations have a nice balance between 3-step and regular transformations. No real complexity, a nice "pick up and goof with" figure line.

Grimlock, both Warrior and Voyager class, great figure. Has a ton of charm and character.

Strongarm is a shellformer, but for some reason, I love shellformers and she's fantastic. One of my absolute favorites in the line.

Heck, even Bumblebee grew on me.

Optimus...had to go for the Leader Class import. A good, but not great, figure. Hampered by design flaws that could've been changed ever so slightly to make him a home run knocked right out of the park.

So far...I think I'm caught up on both sides of the cast, good and evil, that have been released so far. I find them fun, goofy and charming. Quillfire and Thunderhoof are hollow as heck, all of 'em are, pretty much, but they look like the stepped out of the cartoon and came to life.

Can't complain, some pretty solid figure designs have come out of the line and a lot of collectors will probably end up kicking themselves later on down the road when they see them for what they are and decide to start hunting them down at higher prices.

I tried out Strongarm and Grimlock. But, ultimately I don't think they belong

I've kinda been buying Combiner Wars over the RID, but those I do have (Warrior Grimlock, Deployer Fracture w/Airazor and Divebomb, and Legions Fixit and Underbite) are highly enjoyable. Also, I think the show is an enjoyable way to spend half an hour.

I'm still hoping for Deployer Drift w/Jetstorm and Slipstream, and Warriors Megatronus, Steeljaw, Thunderhoof, Strongarm, Bumblebee, and Sideswipe.

I don't care for the show's aesthetic or the show itself, so I'm not collecting any RID toys. I'm not collecting any Combiner Wars figures either for budget reasons. However, there are a few Titans Return figures I'm interested in, so I'll probably get Galvatron (obviously since I'm Galvatross), Mindwipe, and Skullcruncher. I was never much of a fan of Headmasters in fiction, but as toy gimmicks I think they are neat.

However, I am glad there is a toyline with more cartoonish aesthetics that is fun for those who do enjoy it.

This can not be emphasized enough. Perhaps SPLIT LIP is secretly the Most Interesting Man in the World? Subjectively, of course! :lol

Many are nice basic toys, if a bit budget-cut, and there's some interesting designs that are out of the ordinary.

But a primary reason would be that Generations ISN'T making toys of RID-2 series characters. (Hell, the RID toyline isn't making toys of a lot of 'em)

I've bought some of them as I was surprised at how much I enjoyed the characters, and overall like the aesthetics. (Sideswipe though... meh, didn't like his toy, so I'll probably have him be a custom). The cons especially have a cool aesthetic and I actually was buying them before I saw the show ^_^

I think Jetbolt put it well. I put money towards what interests me. If I like the aesthetic of a toy, or if the character catches my interest(from watching with cousins while babysitting them, of all things^^), I'll pick up the toy.

I could try to be more eloquent - as others already have done - but I'm reaaaaaally sleepy and don't feel too hot. So I'll just say:

    People like different stuff.

I only get the ones that are Rid ecmxclusive characters like Fracture, Steeljaw, Underbite, Strongarm, and Quillfire for example . I'm not gonna buy their Optimus, Sideswipe or Grimlock for example. There are better versions available . I MIGHT consider green Grimlock cause he looks different from other Grimlocks and I can call him something else. Howeve I've heard he's a shitty toy who breaks easily due to a factory defect
