Hollywood Reporter is breaking that Hasbro has made a deal to build a theatrical, theme park ride called Transformers Live. Hasbro, DMG Sign Deal to Create Huge 'Transformers' Attraction in China - Hollywood Reporter
This is my first time hearing of the transformers live action movies in connection with Marvel. That could be a blossoming and productive relationship. As for the Transformers attraction in China. That's a great idea. Transformers are a big deal over there. I was just watching on YouTube them transforming costumes they be haveing. I don't think that An huge attraction would be such a good idea over here in the USA though. A good percentage of people over here are drawn to the real life drama. And isn't there a attraction at Universal Studios or something like that already.
Neat. Wonder if Japan will get an attraction like this (preferably near Tokyo as I'm slated to move near there later in the year).
I'd love to see a Transformers live show here, just as long as someone reputable like Feld were in charge of bringing it over.
I have yet to see Hasbro start pandering to anyone, and I hope it stays that way. If you want pandering, look at Mattel, Max Steel and Latin America. In Latin America, they get articulated that are roughly 12" tall, even though a Mattel rep said they wouldn't be making any for the reboot line, and they also get exclusive episodes and "movies" which never air in the US. Hell, the movie Mattel did for Battle Force 5 never aired here either. (EDIT: Just paid a visit to the US Max Steel site to see that said 12" articulated figures are listed in the toys section. They were not there for all of 2014 and possibly all of 2015, so they finally be seeing release here.) It doesn't matter if a property is extremely popular in a specific country or region, when you market said property to multiple regions, limiting better product to said single region is a bad idea. We already have an "attraction" at Universal and most members here would probably laugh before calling the Platinum stuff "better", so Hasbro isn't really pandering to anyone. Didn't Hasbro say something about being a new market region somewhere? Could've swore I read that either here or on Seibertron.
Oh yeah, hopefully they do strict testing standards on the ride, or else peeps are going to get hurt! Especially if the mainlanders are building it...But good keep the mainlanders on the mainland and away from every where else...
No... because... (post below) BINGO! Sounds like Latin America buys Max Steel, and Mattel is banking on that. What's so "pandering" about that? I swear, the lot of you that has never worked retail has no concept of how ECONOMY works - high demand yields better supply/products. It has nothing to do with preferential treatment, though I can understand the disappointment if you happen to be a big fan that DOESN'T live in Latin America! Lucky for you, there's such a thing as IMPORTING, and dozens of online shops to help you - unlike some 20-30 years ago, where you literally had to send someone to Latin America to pick these things up! Considering how well TF4 did in China (despite its horrific length and plot)? I'd say it doesn't matter what the attraction is: it's gonna sell! I'd love to care... if it wasn't movie-verse crap. I still hate movie-verse, insecticon Optimus! He looks ridiculous. If they did G1? I'MA' TRAVELLIN' INTERNATIONAL!!!
@MartyFeeb I just recently saw that Mattel added those figures to the toys section of their US Max Steel website, so they may finally be seeing a release in 2016. Probably because there's a live-action movie on the way.
