Or perhaps Hasbro believes that the constant popularity of the brand reflects that there is a consistent influx of new fans and customers that don't have toys that were released in the past and thus there is demand for them outside of the loyal fans and collectors who have been buying for a long time. No, that can't be it, all of Hasbro's decisions are all about you.

 

On first glance this set looks great, but I'm not a fan of the clear plastic used on Prime's arm kibble. Unfortunately that makes this set a pass for me.

 

What did they do to Optimus!!!  

 

never liked that Optimus, arm kibble kills it. Hate Bayverse designs, but actually prefer Evasion Mode Optimus from AOE to this mold.

As for Megs, I've never gotten a NERF gun as an alt-mode, makes zero sense. So this is an easy pass.

Infact I agree with the guy above who said this is a lazy, poor re-deco, I think he's right (hope that's OK with the newly formed opinion police on here)

Also, it looks like Platinum has gone back to CHUG reissues & not a mixture of that & G1. Which is a bit sad. Was hoping to see some new old stuff come out.

 

Yet another ugly platinum set, easy pass. Not even sure why they are picking the colors they are these days, makes no sense. It's good to see Megs again, but the colors are horrible!

Well this is my opinion: You're allowed to not like stuff, I don't really love this 2-pack either, but what people get mad about is when certain anti-Hasbro crusaders take it upon themselves to go into ever toy reveal thread to post the same rant about how this stuff is garbage and how Hasbro is losing money to the "real fans" who are buying their superior toys from 3rd Parties or whatever.

Which is fine, 3rd Parties make some neat stuff, but there's a whole section of the board just for them to talk about how awesome they are so you don't have to have the stuff you like mixed in with the official stuff you don't. But when some people still then go into official product threads to still rant about it (and certain people make a habit out of doing it), they're not expressing their opinion anymore, they're doing it just to make a scene and to annoy the other posters, which to some of us is a bit grating and we get a little tired of seeing it again, and again, and again, and again.

Anyway, everyone has the right to their opinions, but others have the right to call people out on it when it stops being their opinion and just starts being that they're acting like an asshole.

if hasbro stopped putting out overpriced garbage in the platinum line, people wouldn't be complaining.

 

Aside from how the door wings look on Optimus he doesn't look that bad. Megatron himself uses the red parts decently too.

 

What an odd set... like they just decided to leave the paint off Optimus for budget reasons, and then made his unpainted transparent panels a "feature." Here I thought the ones on eBay were just partially-painted prototypes, but nope! That was the actual deco!

Megatron looks nice enough to me. I'm in the minority I think, but I like that mold. And the reds and oranges are kind of fun.

Anyhow, probably not something I'll pick up myself. There was a time I would have, back when I was a Classics completist and wanted every version of every mold. Thank goodness I shook that. But I still enjoy the molds, and if this is a way for a few new folks to enjoy and experience them, so much the better.

 

I want this because of that Megatron is pretty nice,The Optimus other hand it's okay.

 

Let's see...ten pages and 90% of the replies are positive, and of the 10% who aren't, some of those are just people who chronically complain just for the sake of complaining. As for my opinion? The only platinum edition release that I ever thought was overpriced were the Insecticons, and even those were just $80, not $200 or some shit.

 

I agree, I find the clear blue doors for Optimus strange, but overall I think I may pick up the set depending on the price (more for Nerf Megatron). Plus, I never tire of these molds.=)

 

I kinda want this set because I don't have classics Megatron or Optimus so I might get this set depending on how much it'll be.

These are two very competent and fun molds. Megatron is a little weird and shell-formery but it's still a neat toy. I have enjoyed mine for almost a decade.

I like both of these color schemes for very different reasons...If I didn't have these molds, I'd be very happy with this set.

I reaaaalllly hope that it's not super expensive but considering the Junk Planet set is $99, I am willing to bet my last un-crumbled copy of Beast Wars Transmetals Megatron that this will be the same price.
