While I can understand some people like symmetry, the current situation still comes off as half-assed.

The twin concept is basically a made up narrative excuse because hasbro didn't have a different helicopter CW mold. And if it's all about symmetry, why go halfway and have the car bots to be a-symmetrical arms ?

Really... in the end.... sure, anyone can try and defend an art direction which doesn't entail more than red/teal checkerboard and selling the customer the same helicopter toy mirrored......

Yes, I understand a certain percentage likes it.

But... i think we can count way more dislikes in all Victorion threads for the exact same color style reason .... I think ?

Which tends to never actually be about the mirrored helicopters (besides the fact that there are two of the same mold period) and almost universally just about how saturated the two primary colours are.

No, i just REALLY dislike like the color scheme + it's a case where there is zero nostalgia or even a cool story to bring it to life and offset Combiner Wars "mold fatigue", as in the case of Grand Galvatron.

If they'd done something like made the core body Elita One or anything to give it even the tiniest tie-in to TF history, or even just come up with a killer deco i'd be down, but it's literally one of the ugliest things i can recall coming out of the brand since the days of Armada and Universe 1.0 (well, it and Botcon Predacus, lol)

I find it to be very amusing that, judging by this thread anyway, very few fans want the fan-voted combiner. I've always thought the idea of a character designed by committee to be bad. Windblade, for instance, IMHO was almost a cool character that was completely ruined by that stupid looking Kabuki head.

So, like many, it's not the gender keeping me from buying this. It's the colors (ugly), the faction (I might have bit if the set was Decepticons) and the choice of molds (don't care for the helicopter mold too much and I already own it too many times).

I do have to admit I find the concept of gender on robots to be rather silly and superfluous. They're robots, they don't breed, so why gender is even a thing here boggles my mind a bit. The only place it made sense was in Beast Wars, as they were closer to organic.

I won't avoid a Transformer character because its female, but I find the huge fan push to have more females to be really, really weird.

It's nice to have more female characters. The genders should be more balanced but the things that bug me about Victorion are that its a team of repaints, the uniform colours aren't very appealing, two of the limbs are Alpha Bravo when I already have him.

So not much interests me about the Torch Bearers at all. However, their comic appearances have been ok, if a little forced.
I'm very picky though. I got the Aerialbots and a couple of other figures and have decided I'm done with combiner wars now. Bruticus is tempting but ideally I'd like him to be Titan class like Devastator and stand in my MP display.

So probably won't bother. Plus, you have to buy them the PE add on kits for these combiners or they end up looking like they have been made to bind their feet since they were born and have little hands even Jeremy Beadle would've smirked at.

Right, we don't need that. But having no visual indication AT ALL that they are female isn't any good either!

Won't happen. I guarantee at least three quarters of the people whinging about it will buy it the moment it becomes available. Shortly thereafter will be the plethora of "...well, actually, it's really good...!" posts.

"Poorly distributed" is also subjective. But if you want to use that as an objective term, I'm just playing the game you set up, and saying that the G2 stunticons have the worst color distribution i've ever seen.

First off, they all have horrible secondary coloring to go with their own base colors, particularly Wildrider, Breakdown and Motormaster. Breakdown in robot mode has the worst possible shade of cyan to pair with purple, itself being quite a feat, and Wildrider's color palette becomes infinitely more tolerable by inverting the color values of what's there so you're not staring at so much unbroken bright yellow, similar to why people disliked UW Dragstrip specifically because he was just this hunk of yellow and off-orange with no attempt to break it up in either mode. Dead End gets a pass for using the more garrish blue color to draw attention to his face, and otherwise maintaining a cohesive red and black coloration, and so does Drag Strip for similar reasons.

Motormaster took the heaviest toll. He goes from passable to the worst of the bunch because they break it up so much compared to the original toy as a necessity of his change in alt mode and just make him look like he chose his paint job by throwing darts at a board. And since he's going to be the main body of Menasor, it only slightly pulls itself together by hiding some of the blue and using Blackjack to break it up more.

But when you get to Menasor as a whole, it officially falls apart because they all share colors that aren't a particular pattern like G2 Bruticus' purple camo pattern, or muted colors like the original Bruticus' silver and grey and Menasor's black and grey. There are colors that are visibly shared between one or two pieces, but few, if any, that are shared between all of them, and as a result it feels as if they tried to make it all match but couldn't decide which color is going to be the one that brings it all together.

This. It's like it was designed by a colorblind person.

You can count me among that evidently minuscule number as well. Not a huge fan of the color scheme, but I like the combined mode a lot and am looking forward to it.

This. The colors... well, the mixture of the colors are a bit... odd. Otherwise I'm extremely psyched for the figures.

Indeed, opinions, likes or dislikes are all subjective. Even all the people who like it the way it is, their favorable opionion is of course not invalid.

Even if I myself, don't particularly like the execution of this concept,
I do really applaud the concept itself and I hope it'll do well in sales.

However, there are aspects about the execution of this product which
are undeniably questionable - such as the paint coverage of the two colors making this product 'unexpectedly' more expensive to produce than you would expect at first sight - while a different color distribution could look more stylish in the eyes of a wider audience AND be cheaper to produce at the same time.

Sure, some people might say they're just in it for combined mode...and thus, not all too concerned with the duplicate/mirrored aspect of the limb bots.
It's kind of like fans who buy certain TF's disregarding altmode, since they'll only display it in robotmode all the time.

But then I wonder ; it might as well have been a giant Titan Wars figure from the start of development, probably still cheaper to develop and produce overal, when taking all factors into account - compared to this repaint/retool of CW combiners.

I mean... since the narrative background story states they're such a unity, might as well have shaped the 'story' in such a way that Victorion is a fused combiner who is now simply Victorion who lost the individual modes, albeit having hints here and there in her giant body, reminding of the fact she was once made up of individuals.

I'm just glad we skipped the whole build-a-figure nonsense with the last fan poll and just chose from three incredibly worthy characters. As G.B. Blackrock said in another thread, build-a-figure polls are a waste because no one ever gets the figure they have in their head...maybe one or two attributes and that's it.

    No, not in the slightest.

But I know there'd be tons of people who would either be indifferent, or even hate Victorion if they were male. Look at what happened with Drift, Alpha Bravo, Offroad and Rook, Its a pretty safe bet that if any of those characters were female, there would have been much less criticism and hate leveled at them.
