When this was first revealed I wasn't over enamoured by it, however with time it has grown on me a lot and now I can't wait to have him on my shelf. Are the hip kibble and butt tires ideal? No. Can I live with them? Absolutely. I'm sure I'm in the 99.9% majority who doesnt display the back side of these figures.

 

All this testshot did was remind me of all the things I dislike about this mold. And now he's got hollow biceps. The list just keeps adding up.

I want to like this figure, I really do, but even if I forgive the hip flaps and wheel butt which I think I can, that head just doesn't look like Ironhide to me. I've actually been rewatching the show and every time they show his face it's wider. The sides are pretty much straight up and down, not V-shaped like the toy.

 

This test shot reminded me that under all the paint, they're all bare plastic...

 

I photoshopped him into my crappy shelf display of MPs. Was curious to see what he might look like. Now I'm more anticipatory than ever. I cannot wait!  

 

Looking at the half transformed image (with his head on top of the van mode) I'm wondering if there is a way to transform him into his 'headless' mode (with the square face looking through the windscreen). The somewhat long body the normal robot mode has might make up for this. Can't wait to get this to give it a try.

 

Oh man, damn, looks so horrible and out of place...how in the Blue Hell could you possibly want that on your shelf with MP-10?

He actually looks quite nice up there, maybe a little small based on the perspective you were adding him to. But still...looks nice, can't wait until he is actually released.

 

Amazing!! Love how much of the van mode would be in my closet while he is displayed in bot mode (if I was actually going to get it). And that mega-diaper! Those funny legs and protective hip shields! Feet kinda look like high heels so that's a plus! Gappy looking sides FTW!

I didn't design the figure, so I'm not offended or anything...but you do know that none of the van would be in the closet while he is in bot mode right? The sled is just a prop to store his weapons and doesn't form any of the van mode.

 

Apparently didn't bother to read through and just pop in to troll. Because there's been numerous pics of the sled next to the full van with the other accessories...

Knowing is half the battle... But some people come fully unarmed.

 

The only person who needs a mega diaper is the mega whiny baby who made this useless post.

All I know is that when I saw this picture, I said to myself, "That looks fun to transform," and then I pre-ordered one.

 

Honestly, the wheel butt and hip flaps don't really bother me all that much; such sacrifices are almost inevitable on Transformers.

But holy mother of Primus, that head is bad. Not to try and cause flames, but Ironwill's head looks so much more Ironhide-y than this does, which is kind of wierd. And the worst thing? It's just because of how damn tall the head is. If the head were shorter in height, I bet it'd look a lot more like Ironhide at that point!

The face is also too gaunt for Ironhide, too, which is another reason it looks so bad; it's too tall and skinny for an Ironhide head. Ratchet suffers from the exact same issue, as well; the head's too skinny and tall and the face is too gaunt and flat. It makes it look like Ironwill and Salus are the official MP's, where the actual MP Ironhide and Ratchet are the third-party lookalikes.

 

It's another one of those annoyingly (not to me but you know what I mean lol) subjective things like which Megatron face looks best (I feel like a combination of Apollyon and LG13 Megs is best, others feel LG13 is atrocious and Apollyon is perfection, others feel the exact opposite, etc.)

I think the face looks almost perfectly evocative of Ironhide personally. The nose could stand to be a little different perhaps. And the overall head could possibly stand to be a little larger. But I'm super happy with it personally. And the 3P heads look nothing like Ironhide to me. But there you go. *Shrugs*

Shouldn't be surprising or contentious that different people have differing takes on a work of art (which I feel figures qualify as.)

That said, I still think all three look awesome in their own way.

 

I have no idea how someone could look at Ironwill vs the MP Ironhide and come away thinking the former figure looks more like Ironhide.

I'm glad there are options, and that it allows you to get a figure you're satisfied with, but yeesh.
