People know that, but she's missing in the lower portion of the artwork where all vehicle modes are shown - except Rust Dust's.

 

I'll have to see Victorion in person to form a final opinion, but I do wish they'd remolded her a bit more. The Voyager's combined mode still looks too much like Hotspot with a female head.

(And before folks start complaining about me having an anti-'big girl' bias, I'd just like to point out that I wouldn't want them to stick a male head on RID Strongarm, either).

Ideally, they should have used a completely new Voyager mold for Victorion.

The truck might have been a better option than a fire engine, especially in combined mode............if they hadn't already used it for Optimus and Menasor.......

 

That looks so much better than the garish colors we got.

I think these figures look alright, but I have a question that has been nagging at me since I first saw Transformers: The Movie when I was a kiddo.
What exactly makes a robot Female or Male? Do they have sexual organs? Do they reproduce sexually? If not then what is the point of having different genders? Is there an official explanation of this?

 

Depends on the series, really. Sometimes you get a simple answer such as "they just are" to more complex answers involving the study of Transformer culture, genetics, and sparks. If you're asking about IDW's take then best I can summarize is it's partially (if not entirely) genetic and culture based.

It looks more garish. I actually kind of like the colors we got, they are fairly unique. It's the fact it is yet another reuse of the same molds, including one mold doubled up within the set which is absurd, and the fact it was forced to be female just to be female whether it works at all or not.

 

No, Rust Dust is there. She's just hidden by the dust all the others are kicking up. Really.

It would have been even nicer if we had known all the molds they were going to use and how many times they'd be using them. Remember at the time of voting, we only knew the Arielbots and Stunticons. Hot Spot and Groove were actually revealed in the voting process.

 

I know getting new mold is hard because it needed to meet the requirement of slightly retools, remolds to become another one.

We currently have 2 unique mold Skylynx, DX Groove.
We assume the
DX Groove will remold into Afterburner
Brawl/Rook will retool into nosecone

I like the V's hand/leg gun and I am very sure Takaratomy will make extra sets later.

 

the only thing that still disappoints me is the lack of white on her.the poll said main teal, secondary red and white. i might buy a second set just to add make up!

if they added white to take the edge off the harsh colour contrast I'd be fine with the colours. Maybe have the fire truck be mostly white while the arms only have it on the hands and legs.

 

I like the rust-color motif, but yeah...maybe their primary color being white/silver with the teal/orange detailing to add the effect of rust/age would have worked a little better.

 

Want soooo bad!

if i have a budget after botcon set and tfss 4.0, takara galvatronus this is next... then g2 sets and then somehow takara groove, one day

My two real issues with this are the layout of the colors. The way they are used is just ugly. The second is using established masculine molds for female characters.

 

I still am of the opinion that the colors represent the corrosion of iron & brass/copper. (She's supposed to be living in the Sea of Rust after all.)

Which I've actually grown to like. It also adds to her character. 6 clerics/missionaries pilgrimage to the wastes of their ancestral home, and submit their bodies to illness and plague, (in this case rust, which might be similar to lepracy,) to find spiritual enlightenment.

Also, it leaves the door open for a pre-rust repaint. For those truly "offended" by the current paint scheme.
