I swear I've not forgotten to finish the dino pic. In the last 3 months I've basically moved about 200 miles and started a new and amazing job... but it does eat into all my time. Also got some life drawing stuff but I'll need to filter out the PG 13 stuff first before I post it.
ok so none of my life drawing stuff is really right for tfw2005 but here's some stuff from my sketchbook that wont get me a warning.
Have I finished that dino pic? no. I will I swear but gotta find the motivation. Till then I started this... here's a hint!... it's Galvatron
Always glad to see more of your art. I really like seeing the WiPs, can't wait to see the finished pictures. I also gotta say that drawing of the skater girl is the best of the bunch.
This is beautiful artwork, Blitz! And that's possible the best-drawn Galvatron I've seen, period. Seriously, it is.
Actually went and finished a pic! Well I hope I can colour it over the next few days I might have to sneak it into work to use their cintiq's
You haven't updated here in quite a while. Is there some other site where you post all of your artwork? I'd love to see if you've ever finished that Dinobot picture?
yikes its been some time... No I never finished it I did however do more then what I posted not that it really helps. Ok I feel like at the least I can explain why I went from regular posting, to on and off, to radio silence. Well I'm still working in animation and I'm still drawing robots. It's just that I've lost a lot of motivation to really finish my personal work. simply put a few years ago I asked myself why I was doing this? when I was in my early 20's I was posting almost every day and I feel the quality was not my best I was pumping stuff out in my free time to basically get views and comments to feed my self worth it was fun but it wasn't really worth it. I had fun no question but I didn't feel like I was growing so I started spending more time on drawings and I felt it was fine to leave things half done. To me the fun was in the designing I didn't care if it was pencil or full colour. Then I got my job in animation and what little time I had was gone. I sit 9-6 mon-fri in front of a cintiq and two screens as a character rigger/breakdown artist. It's fun but really draining. On top of that a few months ago I did some work for a 3P. I wont go into what I did but it was nice to get back into the groove. But otherwise what work I do now is about growth outside of transformers. I love the IP but I feel like I need to branch out, do my own thing. So as insane as it sounds I spend my work hours on this show and not on transformers. it's a big tone shift to say the least. so these are out of my older sketch book I think I should really finish the Inferno sketch but... this is me I likely wont.
Well I normally use some sort of Bristol board. it's super smooth and it's thicker then normal so it can withstand the abuse if like me you erase more then what you draw. As for pens I normally use just any fine pen. I normally use a 0.3 or 0.5 for the thicker lines and a 0.05 for the bulk of the drawing. Also photoshop I wont lie and say every peace is perfect. Often when I'm done I'll stand back and notice things like hands being a little off so I'll clean it up a bit. Also don't worry about bad feedback. Firstly if some one just says "you suck" well who ever does that is probably quite sad. Secondly if some way says "XYZ is off and/or you can do it better if you do this" well they could be right. my early stuff is... not good to say the least. But you keep pushing your self and you'll improve over the years.
Some good advice right there. And actually do you have any of your early work on hand? I'd love to see what kind of improvement years of practice made.
I never remove anything from my DA page... so much cringy fan OC in the scraps section dinobot it was 2005 Patlee was still a big thing...
