One group that's been getting to me is the gamers fandom, and it's whole culture and what not. I get that people want to justify their purchase and stuff, but it's getting annoying. Your system has cool games, and so does mine. Your system doesn't have cool games, and neither do I.

No. It's seeing a resurgence because it's in the midst of its 15th Anniversary and is getting a plethora of new merchandise and no less than six new movies that continue the original series, the first of which was released just a little while ago.

Just to side-track...thanks for the update on Digimon. I really dig the original Digi universe. It was really charming.

On hindsight, how bad a fandom is depends on how many kids or man-children constitute it. If a poster is young...well, I think its forgivable. Anyone up to 17 gets a 'free-pass' from me. Beyond that...its 'man child'.

Thankfully, we don't have many 'man child(ren)' so this board is quite pleasant. For me, its current the best toy board where one have a decent conversation or discussion.

Great post. This is definitely the truth. A lot of those types have moved on to other places or social media sites.

TFW is pretty much about having a good time without the nonsense.
Are there strong opinions here? Sure, but for the most part I don't think anyone here is a complete waste of time.

Playing "Devils' Advocate". So how many free passes do you give if a person continue to make shit post after they're told over and over again that what they're doing? A lot of times their thread they started being closed or they're ones contributing in good discussions going the wrong direction and being closed?

I myself find crappy posts entertaining. I'll call out people regardless of age. I'll post and move on. There are other things to do rather than argue online.

One person's trash is another's treasure? I've had members point me in the direction of "shit posters" only to find that those particular posters, while definitely opinionated, aren't as bad as they're made out to be. I guess it's subjective.

Hell, I'd even go so far as to say I'm guilty of the "shit posting" occasionally, but I feel as long as there is no malicious intent behind my dumbassery that I shouldn't have to deal with someone saying I'm a "shit poster".

Do Real Digimon Believers still exist? If any single group of persons could have the current state of their minds copied and preserved for scientific examination, it should be Digimon Believers. Why do they - or did they, if the last Believers stopped believing - talk with a degree of seriousness about real Digimon?

I'd say that Five Nights At Freddy's and My Little Pony:FIM from what i have seen are generally crappy fandoms. Most of the time they are populated with keyboard warriors, people with animal fetishes, cringy material and insanely socially awkward individuals.

I took a peak at the "Gravity Falls" fandom a few times. That can be a strange bunch.

Thanks, I'll take that as a compliment. I've been here for years and on various toy boards (Fwoosh, Sideshow, He-man.org) and this board as a whole is probably the best.

Most of the posters here can get into a pretty animated or heated discussion but at the end of the day, the relationship is still amicable. But there are still a couple of loose cannons on this board.

One of whom went into a 'man child' rage after I revealed his identity as a previously banned user. Its like one of those Kylo Ren's 'man child' in the 'Force Awakens'.

He's currently at times trying to troll me by mimicking some of my mannerisms...which I intentionally use on these boards. Its so amusing when other posters in my country pointed it out to me!

At times, I don't know if I should feel sorry for the chap...for being unable to control his man child rage or that his 'buddies' outed his identity.

Dude, I don't know if you're serious or not but I'm afraid I can't answer your question because I was causally following the original franchise.

Wait...you mean there's a 'Sonic the Hedgehog' fandom?!

I'm getting a little meta here, but the Transformers fandom pisses me off, what with all the self-entitled pricks bashing "Hasblow" (I hate that term. HATE it.) for not doing EXACTLY what they want EXACTLY when they want it, the jagoffs who accuse others of not being "true fans," the generation wars (although Pokemon is much, much, MUCH worse about that), and the constant bitching about everything being ruined FOREVER. I love Transformers and being part of the fandom, and I REALLY love havin' friends in the fandom, but holy shit, some of you guys take a franchise about toys too friggin' seriously.

Anyway, rant over. Sorry if I offended anyone, but I had to get this shit offa my chest.

now i like FiM (just the show, nothing else) but the fanbase are waaaay out there.
i question the more extreme fans but for f*** sakes!!!
what is seen can not be unseen.

i did read about the fanbase of Steven Universe, particularly the one where the super fans tried to make a girl commit suicide over her fan art style.

when i went to see RotF in 2009, there was a guy two rows down who would not shut up complaining that this movie and everything after TF:The Movie should not exist because Rodimus Prime said the war is over.

he got so loud that everyone was sushing him. and i told him that Bayformers is a different universe than G1. he threw his popcorn at a random family and security threw him out.

FiM and Five Night's at Freddy's are both pretty bad. There are multiple reasons why, and because of the fanbases I had to quit liking them.

Also Steven Universe fanbase is climbing up there. As much I like the show, I don't like a decent portion of the fanbase, mainly because some angry fans harassed a fan artist into nearly killing herself. She recovered, but still.

Steve Universe: makes friends with a lesbian couple AND someone bigoted against lesbian couples
Steve Universe fanbase: publicly shames someone for supposedly "fat shaming" (it was happy fanart of a reunited family)

    The situational unawareness is frightening.

The Youtube comment section on any fandom can be a real experience. It can show the best and the very worst of fans.

Especially when it comes to the very divided video games fans. PC vs consoles, Playstation vs Xbox, Nintendo vs everyone. Brand loyalty is strong with this group.

I dunno. Half the time I make the mistake of reading Youtube comments....I feel the need to go to Costco and buy myself a pallet of industrial strength brain bleach.

I seriously think sometimes the movie Idiocracy is prophecy...and not just a movie.

As a Pokemon fan, I also tend to get irritated with the GENWUNNERS for the same reason GEEWUNNERS piss me off - they write off anything after their childhood because it's not what they had before, so it automatically sucks. If Pokemon had ended after Gen 1, we never woulda gotten BAMFs like Scizor, Tyranitar, Garchomp, Haxorus, Eelektross, Volcarona and Aegislash.

Then you have the Poke-furries... Look, I have no problem with you if you're into that (and I actually have no problem with furries, to be honest), but... Just... Don't talk about your "interests" in Gardevoir or such. Holy ARCEUS, do people get creepy about Gardevoir.

Raiders fans. I swear, these guys would rather see the 49ers lose than their own squad win... and most Niners fans couldn't care less about the Raiders and what they're doing. In fact, I actually root for the Raiders since they're in the same market.
