Anyone who beleives that photo to have racist implications means they relate specific looks to a race, which is in itself very racist.

 

As I understand it he was well respected when he worked at Hasbro. So it's not that far fetched.

People have often said Hasbro should hire these 3rd party designers instead of trying to suppress them. Apparently that's not above consideration.

 

This is highly likely. The folks who are high enough to give the okay are likely gone already on an extended christmas break and probably won't be back into the office until after the new year.

I've heard about Pete being racist regarding stuff on FB before and pretty much assumed it to be true. If this it what it was all about...I feel kinda bad for having believed it because THAT appears to be a load of shit. Granted, it's too small to read all the details, but from what I can make out, there doesn't appear to be anything racist about it. Honestly, it would seem to me that assigning that style to a particular race is a much more racist thing than finding the style silly...

I'm no fan of the club, but the racist thing is too much and undeserved.

 

Sorry, I have no idea what that means. Did Pete say it? If not, and assuming it means something racist, he could have also been oblivious to it. But if it means something racist and he said it, then I stand corrected.

that's fine, there was more stuff pulled up from FB and twitter that is gone now and undocumented so feel free to give him the benefit of the doubt. ignore brian being racist in front of a crowd. ignore the other bullshit that they've done. let's focus on this one image and why individuals don't find it offensive, ignore the context of why someone on the club twitter was on that account in the first place to favourite it.

and to be clear, the fact that there is a question about who and how racist the people who run the club are should be a crazy fucking scenario in the first place.

M'kay, when I hear "racist" I automatically assume outright HATE, not an accidentally (benefit of the doubt) liked joke tweet about low-hanging pants with a hashtag referencing a protest that consists of standing in a restaurant. Unprofessional, sure, but this is so far beyond removed from anything FunPub is actually doing I just don't get it.

 

But there's other stuff too isn't there?

 

I think there are two possibilities FunPub (or their representatives) aren't actually saying anything about it.
1) Gag order from Hasbro.
2) Chance to make less money. If we KNOW the club is closing up shop, are you really going to give them money months in advance of a product that's supposed to come out, like the TFSS figures? After all the other ways they've treated fans badly? I certainly won't. They'll probably slack on the conventions as well- if they're not running another one, why go all-out? Might as well half-ass it and count your money and the tears of fanboys.

I quit handing FunPub money a while back, but if it's true, I hope everyone else is smart with their money. If you think their customer service was poor before, imagine what it'll be like when they have nothing to lose.
