There's only so many ways to read into that. Either way, looks like we're going to know for absolute, 100% certain very soon ...

Except that trend is used by teenagers of all races.

As for the Asian offense, I don't remember it, which doesn't mean it didn't happen.

Can we please ban the movie "White Men Can't Jump" it's clearly racist :)

I really don't care about the race jokes. I hear enough from my old man. What I do care about is a certain someone using the official club account to like those and what hasn't been mentioned: political groups.

I would hope that most of us are in the middle. FP aren't angels and they aren't devils. They have made some big mistakes but they have also put out some solid figures and put on a great convention overall.

From all the years I've been to Botcon I have never left feeling I wasted my money. Certainly there were times where I was cursing FP, but it was all minor annoyances, and I don't know any behind the scenes stuff.

I'm happy I got some figures, experienced the convention and made some great friends.

There's no one to blame but themselves. There were so many other things they could've done and done right, but they chose not to.

You cannot operate a business the way they did and expect it to be a success or have an audience that's going to have a positive response.

Whether or not you agree that they were being racist, I that's on you/up to you, but you cannot deny they broke the law forcing physically disabled/differently abled people to buy a more expensive ticket option to receive the same services those who don't require help, got without extra purchases.

That's the lowest of the low and exploiting the literal weaknesses of a minority group to make money. There's no excusing it whatsoever and if you do, you're just as bad of a human being as they are.

Broken, incomplete, incorrectly constructed items are just the tip of the iceberg. Credit card/identity theft, billing issues, people not getting what they ordered, to name a few.

So many people are willing to vilify Keith over at KFC because he, and his fellow 3rd partiers, have "stolen" HasTak's IP and so on and so forth, and they cry on and on about how it's not official and how it's not real, blah blah blah.

Well, if buying official means giving these bastards a dime of my money, you better believe I'll go 3rd party and stick it to the official sources. I don't want anyone who'd use and abuse the disabled and possibly defenseless (just because a person's facing a difficult disability doesn't mean they're defenseless) to make an extra buck to ever get my business.

These pricks needed to go a long time ago, but we fans are to blame for keeping their business alive when it should've ended long ago. Some fans are so desperate for a crap-ass repaint or a slightly remolded head or a special edition box with a stupid pin, that they'll throw their money at people like this, but some company in China decides to make Transformers better than Hasbro and they're somehow the bad guys?

Oh, please. Save it. FunPub can pack their shit and hit the road and if you support them knowing what they've done, you know where the door to the fandom is, too.

It's no wonder there's so many angry, bitter, malcontented souls in our fandom. If we can allow this without batting an eye, or even worse...supporting it, we deserve the misery we have and we need to shut up and take our lumps.

    Screw FunPub.

Isn't that similar to the movie 40 Year Old Virgin? Because that was funny. Whenever someone hears that I collect Transformers, they ask if I've seen that movie. Should I straighten my back and proclaim "how dare you sir" and walk away. No, because I know the intent behind the movie and what people say.

I do agree that businesses should be very careful what they associate themselves with. No official twitter/FB page should be liking anything that could be taken as offensive in any way.

It's in poor taste for a company account to link to, at the very least. I don't understand how "well all the kids are doing it" became a good justification for questionable behaviour either but, there it is I suppose.

"I don't find it offensive, so it CAN'T be racist" is basically what I'm seeing.

I'm not saying you can't make jokes; I like a lot of darker comedy, but the thing is, Pete WASN'T joking, that's what I'm getting at. That was the point of me posting this picture:

Not being accommodating to handicap or disabled is really bad and inexcusable. I've experienced it at the official Disney convention D23 Expo. my mom walks with a cane and can't stand in lines for long bits of time. When we asked if we could use a chair or have her sit on a bench while I stand in line, they said no, and we paid for the expensive tickets.

The credit card issue is ridiculous, yeah they should have accepted that it happened and helped in every way they can to get it fixed. Far bigger companies with much tighter security have been hacked and had CC issues. I haven't seen much mention of boycotting Target or Sony or any of the other numerous companies that have been hacked.

I agree completely with not linking it to a business.

What I'm saying is that trend has nothing to do with race. It's a trend that teenagers embrace not black teenagers or Asian teenagers.

The thing about that picture that I can't find as racist is because I've seen white kids, teens, and adults dress like that. I've seen black kids, teens, and adults dress like that. I've even seen asian kids, teens, and very few adults dress like that. There are possibly others of other ethnic backgrounds that dress like that too. Why? It's more of a cultural thing with hip hop/rap fans that goes beyond race. It's more like a fashion statement if you will. There was even the snopes debunked myth about that trend starting out in prison as a sign of sexual submissiveness when in reality, it was because of the fact that prisoners were issued clothing that were at times, several sizes too large. Then a rap group popularized it. Hell, even females are known to dress themselves with sagging pants.

So to say that picture, that is clearly making fun of a fashion statement, is racist is largely incorrect. But don't get me wrong. I'm not defending Pete or FunPub. Just clarifying what I think is a misunderstanding about a picture here.

I don't see where Pete says anything about race. He says men and women, he's talking about the way clothes are being worn.

Pete said it was accidental. He has said that he would have never "liked" something like that publicly or privately. It was something that was accidentally "liked" as he was scrolling a hashtag in the twitter feed, with other random things that were "liked" as well at other times. It was not intentional. He also stated on Twitter awhile back that he didn't even really use the "favorites" button. So, fact is, it was an accident and obviously many people have liked something on Twitter that they didn't mean to.

I honestly can't understand how they kept the license for as long as they did. Transformers is a huge property... It defies belief that something as shady, amateurish and disorganized as FunPub would be allowed to continue for such a long time.

well i have gone through this thread and looked at the facebook thread and I a still going to wait for official confirmation as this is the sort of thing that will require such to be released eventually perhaps at what might be the final botcon.

I will also be interested to see what plans Hasbro has if any to give the license to anyone else.

So now, imagine if you will, a company that pulled the bullshit with your disabled mom, whose founder told a racist joke at their own convention, whose car data was comprised and then compromised again before admitting fault, whose Twitter account was following and fav'ing very questionable content, who intentionaly misrepresented the product they were selling until you couldn't get a refund, whose community manager favourited and shared racist things on his public Facebook page and when called on it accused people of stalking. This isn't even comprehensive. But hey…"they sure made some good toys and I had fun at botcon so here's some more money Pete and bryan!"
