Yay! More transformers that don't transform. It looks good, but why get it if you can't transform it.

This one is just a waste. the sculpt is directly based off MP Soundwave. What's the point?

If the sculpt had a different aesthetic, i'd understand, but MP Soundwave can already do these poses with ease.

Becuase you like the character and want a nicer display piece, given that it's a statue?

It seems odd to lump statues in with Action Masters, etc.--huge case of apples and oranges.

The same reason people buy Batman figures that aren't Batman, or model kit cars you can't drive, or toys in general.

There's more facets to the brand than the most surface-level.

I love that it comes with "Frenzy or Rumble." Even they don't want to get involved with FIRRIB!

I wrote up a post about how MP13 makes this pointless, then realized this is actually in a pose that the Masterpiece can't accomplish.

Yeah, I got a chuckle from that, too.

I know man, it got me at first. From the quick look of the pic, my first impression was...lame due to excluding my favorite cassette, blue Rumble. Then, the fine print save it, lol.

I have no problem with non-transforming Transformers, but I do see them as pointless when the fully transforming Masterpiece equivalents are almost as posable, equally as good looking, while actually costing less. Same problem with all the Optimus Prime statuettes that have been coming out - MP10 is too badass to replace with a resin statue. But to each their own! As long as Takara isn't wasting engineers on them...

this... the MP line is damn near as good as most of these statues, and can transform to boot. Not to mention they are ridiculously cheaper.

This is true. Just because we like transforming toys, doesn't mean everyone is going to. I see this as being for ppl like Micheal Bay. Too cool for toys nor does he wanna transform them, but having a statue of his favorite bot as a kid but is too cool for transformers, & this may not make him feel as much of a geek. I not saying were geeks but I can see some guys thinking that.

Yup. This is probably true and I know I would rather have a transforming masterpiece then a statue. BUT then there are folks that have a Soundwave collection that already have MP-13 Soundwave (& isn't it MP-03 hasbrowave?) & want to adds to the collection. Idk I used to hate non pose able figures but I think that was before I seen figures that don't move that look gorgeous! Like easy dynamic BIG Thunderhoof or STEELJAW or ANY of that line. And I just recently reviewed on my starting channel sofubi OPTIMUS PRIME by funko. Really cool toy with no real pose ability.

    Its late I'm rambling lol

Even nice looking figures are still visibly figures--it's easy to tell plastic (or a mix of die cast and plastic) apart from something made of resin or porcelain at a glance. Statues and busts are also much more likely to be bottom heavy and not get knocked over as easily if you've got them on display in a common area.

IMO, statues work well for display on a mantle, end table, etc. in a way figures don't (better suited to a display case). Statues say "look but don't touch" while figures say to some "pick me up and mess with me"--not what I want random house guests doing with an MP.

Why can't it transform? Because it's a statue.

I'll never understand the "does not transform" argument.

I bet you have more than a few Transformers in your collection, on display that you haven't transformed in over a year. I know I find a good pose for something and then pretty much don't touch it again.

Surely it's the character you are attached to and if there is a good representation of that character, transforming or not, you're invested?

So it is just glue the MP13 to a stand... correct me if I am wrong.
