The first US release of the figure had the black gun. There is no definitive version, really, with the back gun AND the uncut smokestacks, even if you get MP-04 Perfect Convoy you don't get the black gun.

The only "Prime" that came with the toon accurate gun is Ultra Magnus. His gun (which is Optimus Prime's) is all black, no blue anywhere on the gun. I switched my Magnus' gun with the one Prime inexplicably came with.

i got the "dvd edition" of masterpiece prime(leave me alone-i only paid $40) and have to say the blue gun is not accurate,but fits the rest of the color scheme
I got the 20th and only paid 50 (including shipping) and bought the uncut smokestacks from ebay for like 5 bucks. Looks bad@ss. Mine has the blue gun but, to be honest, I don't really care about the gun color.
Why do people keep getting it backwards? The first run of 20th Prime's had the gray gun. It was switched to black by the second wave onward. It's why a MISB gray gun 20th Prime is so pricey. It's the variant.
The first sets of MP Prime came with a gray gun. Shortly after release they started coming with black guns and the 20th Ann DVD edition comes with the blue gun. I would take a picture since I have one gray gun and two black guns but my sister has my camera. Edit: beaten to it.
So, people actually have MISB grey gun 20th Primes? I was under the impression that those were the 'return specials' where MP owners buy one, swap the gun, and return it.
I had bought one, but then when I found out he was rereleased with the black gun ( since I already had a grey gun with MP-01 ) I returned it and traded it out. Had I known it would be as rare as it is, I'd have kept it.
If anyone in TF fandom did this it is really REALLY lame. Doesnt surprise me, though. As for the person who asked how they got these so cheap, check ebay and the junk exchange. A dude on their was selling his MP-04 trailer-less for $75 and I found a DVD prime for $42 with shipping on ebay.
I don't know about that. I got 20th Prime straight from the shipping case at wal-mart back when he was brand new first released and mine and all the others were black guns, as it should be.
Eh. I just went and repainted my 20th DVD Prime's gun. Mostly black, left some silver accents. Looks pretty good.
I got the gray gun Prime the day they were put out at the Target I worked at. I got a black gun on clearance for thirty-something. I was randomly checking stores inventory and found another black gun for $17.24 at a different store. Gray was our first shipment, the second and third sets we got in were black
