This is fantastic. Nerdy Christmas card material right there.

Got to mess with my set last night. Swapped out Cyclonus's hands and added the thigh armor easily; I know Bobby Skullface mentioned multiple screwdriver sizes, but I was totally fine with just the one--no stripped screws.

My Tailgate had the same slight messiness around the visor, as well as around the white area of the chest, and it was a bit fiddly trying to get him posed the way I want with the high number of moving parts. That said, still totally satisfied. Such a spot on depiction--I'd been anticipating this guy ever since I sat in that TFCon Chicago panel 14 months ago, and he didn't disappoint.

Edit: To the person asking about where to buy, BBTS has the set back in stock as type this.

The multiple screwdriver sizes is more of a thing with the head, which has one screw about the same size as the hands, and then two ridiculously tiny ones.

I feel silly for thinking at one time that Hasbro's offering was a decent Tailgate:

    This is his broken piece:

This is what the piece looks like in alt mode:

There were no tightness issues for me (except for cyclonus' hands).

Hmm. The Hurricane upgrade hands are waaaaay too tight. The way I solved it isn't to sand/shave off the Great Sword handle but to drill out the hands.

Just grab a 5mm drill bit (I used a metal drill bit because the edges are sharper) and drill out the hole by hand. Ie, spin the fist around the drill bit using your own hands, not an actual drill (an actual drill would require uber precision and likely obliterate the entire fist if it goes wrong).

It's a bit tricky (don't get the drill edge caught against his pointy fingers for instance) but once done MTMTE Cyclonus can safely hold everything, not just his sword.

Thanks for the tip, I'll definitely be doing that.

(Though for $70 you'd think the damn sword would fit right out of the box grumble grumble)

with the new hands for cyclonus....can you still fold them in like you can for jet mode and plug his targetmaster on his wrist? or do the added thruster detail wreck that feature?

I really wish Tailgate was available without the Cyclonus parts. Just don't want or need them. :<

I don't get it. Donate them. Trash them. Melt them down and make armor and weapons for the men of Westeros.

It's not like you're paying extra for them. Don't let that be an excuse not to get this 110% superior version of Tailgate instead of the, uh .. shitty Hasbro one.

You better get in touch with your retailer. You paid $10 more than everyone else!

You're not the first to express such a sentiment, but I just can't wrap my head around it. Why would anyone who wants an IDW Tailgate not want an IDW Cyclonus to go with him?

Seriously, it's like "Rewind is fine by himself. I don't need Chromedome."

I'm in the same boat as you. I think many of the group just prefer an alternate Cyclonus figure, though, such as Combiner Wars.

(Personally, I don't see the appeal when the deluxe Hasbro mold makes an infinitely more comic accurate base, but different priorities, I suppose. Some just want a big Cyclonus, scale with Tailgate be damned, or a more red tinted purple like MMC's.)

Because some of us don't like the aesthetics of the IDW Cyclonus specifically the skull and deathmask appearance.
