I've been considering getting some of these for a while... How is the game? Does it compare to the Mechwarrior/Hero clix figs?
Give me some feedback if you guys could.

A little. Same point limit army concept, speed on the dial and base concept. Rules are MUCH simpler, though. I thought there was more to it, but it's really that simple: move, shoot, repeat, last one standing wins (edit: don't get me wrong, it's simple rules, but people are already developing meta-games and strategies). It's like playing those Quick Rules from the clix starter set, but with action figures. If you like clix miniature gaming and PVCs/Titaniuns/Legends, give these a try. They're really cool. :)

I play it with my son sometimes. It's fun, but I have no experience with any other games like this so I have no idea how it compares. But I can tell you we do have a blast with it.

You were only that excited eh? I was 3 inches over the edge, anticipating it more than the movie itself. ;)

What's the purpose of those figures again?

Those look killer. Unfortunately I won't buy them because I'm really not fond of blind packing in anything.

Some similarities. Team building is basically the same, you have a set point value (usually 100 - 200 in 'Tix, 300 in 'Clix), and each figure has a cost. Choose figures that add up to the total and that match your strategy. In both games, you start with your team lined up on your side of the board.

To move in 'Clix, you check the speed and powers, and move according to the squares, using your action pool. In 'Tix you check the speed of the figure and any effects, and use the "tix counter" in the base to measure the units of movement. You can move all of your figures each turn in 'Tix.

The biggest difference is in resolving attacks. In 'Clix you compare attack and defense numbers, add in the powers which can affect the values, then roll the dice. In 'Tix instead of having values you have spring loaded weapons for attacking and the black circular bases to standardize the defense of the figures. A figure is defeated in 'Clix when all of it's clix of health have been eliminated, in 'Tix a figue is defeated when it is knocked over (and a special power doesn't keep it in the game).

Winning the game is basically the same in either case...you win when all of your opponents figs are knocked out. If there is a time limit, whoever has the most points still in play would win.

In general, 'Tix is aimed at a slightly younger market than 'Clix, and as such, 'Tix uses more basic rules and goes a little quicker, and 'Clix has a little more in depth strategy.

From a quick interview with the Attacktix Designer:

Q:How to get Attacktix more mainstream (popular)?

A:They're also working on redesigning the boosters. Starters easily sell better because you can see what you're getting. There's talk of half visible/mystery boosters. If you have a good design idea to make boosters sell, let them know.

Half visible boosters could help bring in more players, like Jarodimus and aksmth :)

They shouldn't transform. You just won't get the same level of detail if they did.

Right... they are game pieces that serve a purpose.

Transformers Chess Pieces COULD transform, but that would serve no purpose in tha actual game of chess.

I can't wait for that Giant Megatron with that whip-thing! What is that?
