Wait.. People pointing out a bunch of reviews and references to the contrary shouldn't be listened to because they don't own them? That doesn't quite make sense. With everything in life.. Some people will have a good experience with something, and others won't. But, if I were looking to spend money on something like this, I'd certainly want to do research on the product, read several reviews from more credible sources (experts), then try them out and make a decision. Him reading 4 pages of comments on here isn't enough to make a properly informed decision. It can help, but only a little bit. However, when someone is bent on having something, I don't think there's anything anyone could say to talk them out of it. They just have to try it out and come to their own conclusion.
You can bring a horse to water.... For me, especially with electronics, I always do a shit ton of research. That's why I end up with receivers, TVs speakers out of the norm. The best is getting people to ask, how did you set this up? My Bose system doesn't sound this good. Yeah, it's not Bose. But people like the fact their TV is a Sony, their speakers are Bose and so forth. Personally, I like the bang for the buck then paying extra by the letter.
He said right here he already read some reviews online and asked if anyone ON THIS FORUM had info on them.
I guess I got 60 days to see if I like them or if they take a crap. Cyber Monday had them down to 80 bucks
You're dismissing valid criticism that people have presented just because almost no one here has been a big enough fool with deep pockets to buy $100+ fad headphones. When you buy Beats you're paying for the name, the marketing, and cool points with other people in your age group who also bought them for attention. Right now you're probably getting agitated from reading this while typing out a $500 Christmas list for daddy, but you'll hopefully be mature enough one day soon to realize how corporations can manipulate you into thinking overpriced substandard products are hot shit.
Fad headphones? What are those? Anyways I've basically owned headphones across the board to know what you said isn't true.
Kinda off topic, but I have a friend who has a $10,000 Sub Zero fridge. That thing broke 4 times on him since he has been in this house (the fridge came with the house). It's pretty insane.
I'll never know nor understand why people buy those expensive, cumbersome headphones. All you're paying for is the name and the status symbol. You can get better quality earbuds for a fraction of the cost with comparable sound. Several years ago, I bought some Sony Bass earbuds for $50 at Target and they sound outstanding. Plus, since they're not headphones, they won't crack or fall apart. AND, they come with extra buds in case they somehow fall off.
I bought these years back and got a custom fit piece to my ears. I have had these for 3+ years now and they are still great. A steal at this price. Granted these aren't bass poppers, if that is what some people are into. Amazon.com: Etymotic Research MC5 Noise Isolating In-Ear Earphones (Black): Electronics
I'd also not recommend Beats. Beats is IMO as bad as skullcandy when it comes to design, and how god damn fragile they are. If you're going to pay over 100$ for a pair of headphones, get one from a trusted brand like Seinheisers or Bose. Those headphones will last you a long time compared to Beats. For headphones I just use the vanilla iphone headphones they gave you with the iPhone 4 (it's eh), but I have a bluetooth Bose speaker given to me on my birthday and HOLY MOLY THE QUALITY. The speaker costs about 130$ (CAD, mind you) and it rocks with how much bass it has for such a small speaker. There's also no popping or cracking so that's an A+ for me already.
I don't understand how people say they feel cheap. How tough are you with them? Are you pulling out the head jack hard? Are you dropping them constantly? I'm a pretty clumsy person and have dropped mine more then a few times with no signs of damage on them.
So 6 pages of defending Dre Beats and other opinions. I looked up a review on it hoping to find some "sound" advice in it and found this: Beats By Dre Are For Idiots, Here's Why...Digital Music News That guy is angry....but then here's a well written article: Are Beats By Dre Headphones Any Good? It tells you to actually try others before buying Beats by Dre.....and it says: And then there's an article in Forbes: Forbes: 10 Headphones Better Than Beats All in all, some of the more level headed reviewers are saying if you want Beats by Dre, and you have your heart set out on it....go buy one. But if you're looking for alternatives with better sound quality, to shop elsewhere. Meh. I don't like buying into the hype, but I have tried listening to music at stores that sold Beats by Dre. I can honestly say I didn't see the need to pay several hundred dollars for them since the sound quality was what I was after. I listened to music on other headphones and the cheaper ones were the ones I would have bought if I was in the market for a headphone. But that's just my Honestly, people shouldn't be in the habit of dismissing valid opinions if they were being asked for (even if it was asked by someone else).
What is Google? Compared to what? The crap $1 earbuds that came with your phone? Countless other people who professionally use headphones say Beats are a ripoff, and I'm more inclined to trust their opinion.
I know this thread continues, but I don't see the point. There was about 5 or 6 links provided with close to 30 or more headphone recommendations over the beats. There is one defender of Beats, and it seems like the OP wants to buy Beats. This thread doesn't have to do with sound quality, or good headphones. It has to do with the OP wanting the status that comes with Beats, but is also afraid that Beats is low quality and will break on him. Well, for the OP. I think you are learning a good lesson here. Sometimes the thing that creates a status is actually a piece of shit. So decide for yourself. Do you want to buy a good pair of headphones that will last you 2-3 years or do you want people looking at you for wearing beats?
Btw, I am not sure what your exposure is to good sound systems, speakers, headphones and such. The thing with Beats, is that it is "fake" bass. Other headphones has a good deep strong bass. You want an even sound in your headphones. Bass is great, but it needs to be balanced with your treble and so forth. The article dark seeker posted is 100% true. If your going to be listening to other headphones. Listen to the full sound. Are the words being lost? Is the bass cracking vs. being rounded? Can you hear the instrumentals? You don't have to be an audiophile to get it. It becomes pretty clear, especially at the price point.
I been wanting to move on the Jabra revo or bose truesound But no experience never owned a set other than ones that come with cell phone
