That was pretty damn cool. Springer's always been my favorite 86 movie bot, so I'm beyond stoked to have him back in action. Definitely a lot of setup, but a LOT of setup --- those are sommmme threads.

I know Arcee's a loose cannon but I kinnnnnda feel she went overboard there? On the other hand, I enjoyed Verity calling her out on her shit. Hah.

What was it, last we saw Prowl was after Prime beat the shit out of him, right? And Rattrap pulled his fat out of the fryer?

Gonna be a fun ride.

Not gonna lie: I got giddy seeing Springer back, logic be damned (sorry Shockwave). I did think it was odd that his idol telling him off did more than his friend learning to read and spending all 1742 days of his coma with him, but now I do wonder whether it's a coincidence that he only woke up when Prowl needed him and after he heard Prowl's sleeper agent (Kup being the first time Prowl meddled in someone's rebuilding). Kup's speech was pretty sad though.

I think it's amazing how much content was in here, I thought the issue ended when Arcee confronted Verity and was pleasantly surprised to see I was only halfway through. I can't wait!

And to the picture of Nick digging Autobot graves, he also said "pro tip: leave enough characters alive for a sequel", so there's that. The Wreckers are going through a lot though, no doubt. I also think the villain will be Sideways. He was a cool part of Armada for me and I'd love to see him again.

 

Springer is back. This awesome.

 

I feel bad for Springer. Wakes up from a five year coma just to get tossed right back into the meat grinder.

Verity is like 28-30 years old now. How weird.

 

Arcee strikes me as too aggressive here. I mean, yea, she's not a non-aggressive bot, but shooting first when dealing with a human? Also has a bigger chip on the shoulder about Prowl than I'd expect. They left on fairly good terms.


Anyway, on Verity, anyone else think she's pregnant.... and Prowl's the father? ; )

She started questioning Prowl back on Cybertron ("I'm not your assassin") and the last time when she saw him in action she was sure that he completely lost his marbles.

It was about time someone called Arcee in-universe, because her personality starts to be kinda grating. It's like a modern trend in writing that if a female character isn't acting like a complete female canine she's not badass enough... ending with characters who make Private Vasquez look nice in comparison. IDW's guilty of it twice with Arcee and Chromia, but especially Arcee.
Maybe Roche's pointing at it... I'd like to see what he can do with Arcee.

Great start to the series, and coooorrrrrrr, the Roche/Burcham art team is such a treat for the feet, this book looks flipping amazing.

On Verity's mysterious illness; I don't think it's a pregnancy. It flares up before Stakeout shows up to save her/drop kick a polar bear (lol), right before Arcee shows up and again right before the Wreckers show up. Whatever it is could well be related to her time around the Transformers, with her attacks immediately preceding the arrival of Cybertronians. Her condition, whatever it may be, deteriorating seems to be a motivating factor in her desire to expose Prowl. She's been sitting on this stuff for 5 years, why do it now? She wants to see him go down before her time is up. So yeah, I don't think she's preggo, it's gotta be something more.

Springer's sudden awakening is pretty sus, but then there's alot of that going around so who knows, maybe Kup's words really were what his brain needed to hear to finally breach the zero point.

Guzzle is looking DENCH these days, I did wonder how the little guy was supposed to melt his way out of time out.

Also, now I need one of those Generations Legends Bumblebees to turn into Hubcap for my Wreckers shelf.

 

Whats funny is when you read Arcee's lines in the 80s cartoon Arcee's voice. I know the voice doesn't suit IDW Arcee but thats what makes it so amusing.

 

So any bets on who will die a horrible and pointless death first?

I have to wonder if we'll ever learn what is on that data slug? And if it could be worse than the stuff we already know the Autobots did. Or as bad as what we've been imagining.

Downside of to much grey and grey morality I think is eventually everyone just ends up equally as awful, and you hate both sides.

Also I have to wonder what Kup (and everyone elses) reaction will be to finding out Prowl turned him into a puppet.

I wouldn't be surprised if she had a cancer or a radiation sickness. Spending all this time spaceborne with aliens who are, by large, immune to soft radiation and may or may not have had their ships and surroundings properly secured...

These days I read Arcee's lines in a high pitched anime voice with a murderous anime face. It's like a whole new experience.

And you make a good point about Verity probably having gotten something from her time around Uncle Magnus. Makes me sad though.

 

So... Is there anything weird going on with the earth animals? Verity says she feels they're chasing her. Aside from the (amazing) polar bear drop kick, there was a wolf chasing her. And in the surveillance style cam shots of Prowl he is being watched by a rabbit (possibly one with razor sharp teeth) and he also stops in front some animal - a moose? (a moose bit my sister once) .
Does any Transformer have a knack of controlling animals?

 

My thoughts on the animals? Facsimiles. Like the human ones, only, y'know, bears and such.

It doesn't really work if he's the one turning her up, though.

 

Zero Point coma. It was a prose story in the back of Last Stand of the Wreckers.
