Still my favorite set from that wave. I mean Kulta is okay, but Ekimu is just fantastic. As for the 2016 sets, I think I'm still sticking with my plan of buying just Onua to upgrade the existing one. The rest of the Toa are good enough for me and while I do like '15 Onua a lot, I think this plan will do wonders for him.
While I obviously don't agree, I can see where you're coming from, and I think it's partly due to the Uniter gimmick. Like Kopaka for example no longer has his big shoulder pads (uncombined) Tahu doesn't have his shogun flag-swords, Gali doesn't have her shoulder stuff, Lewa's big poofy collar is gone, etc. Plus their masks all have the same basic head shape so the creatures can form helmets. It's one of the first things I plan to do when I get them, especially the smaller sets. The more I think about it, the more I may ditch the uniters as sets and just use them for parts. It would certainly save space, not having to display more little sidekicks. I'm even wondering if they'd all look better with a little gold, now that Lewa lacks his orange. Not a ton, maybe about as much as Kopaka has, but enough so that their gold masks with the cool blend don't look out of place.
As interesting as 2016's Toa look, I don't think I'm going to get all of them simply because I'm content with the 2015 Winter wave. If anything I'd get Kopaka for the sake of having Melum and use the toa of ice himself for parts because I'm really keen on collecting all the beasts. I guess I'll have to wait for advance reviews before I make my final decision.
I was originally planning on keeping the 2015 Toa as they are and use the the Uniters for parts, but I've since fallen in love with sets like Kopaka and Onua. I think, as far as colour schemes and visual impact go, these do beat the Masters at least in part (except Tahu). What they lack is all those little details that made the Masters unique that Split mentioned. Though there might be a way to recreate those things by reverse engineering the Unity feature. Basically doing something similar to Kopaka, who gains his big shoulder pads back thanks to Melum. I'm not sure about the details, but this is what I want to try out, so each Toa can stay light armoured and then switch to heavier armour. The weapons are a mixed bag. They're pretty good ideas, they're just hurt by them using the same darn blade. Except Tahu's, his swords are just crap. Onua's hammer is cool, but feels it belongs to a MOC rather than an official set (still better than Tahu's swords). For the most part, the perfect Toa for me would have the 2015 masks, the 2016 colours, most 2015 weapons (I like Kopaka's sword better than his spear), a build that is a mix of both, and all those little details the 2015 Toa sported.
Nice one, dude! Yeah, I'm happy the eyes are unprinted. Makes them less exciting sets, but far more useful parts. I may just cannibalize them afterall.
So many useful shells... In so many useful colours... Rey and Finn will definitely help spice up Pohatu with their tan/sand parts.
Bionicle - BZPower News, Reference and Discussion TODAY IS LEAK DAY HAIL THE LEAK GODS yay for NEW BRAINSTALK- Wait. Where's the friction on the waists?!
Surprisingly, not horrible from the back. But I think they're on the skinny side so I'll likely try and beef them up. Sadly I was hoping the mask-launching gimmick would be gone, but hopefully the smaller eyestalks will mean less accidental firing and more range of motion. Gali's combo may actually be the best IMO. The creature head goes really well with her mask.
Dare I say these look like the best Bionicle sets yet? They have the robotic, mechanical look of the Geewun Bionicle sets, yet carry the streamlined and not absolutely blasted with Technic holes CCBS benefits. They're glorious. I like how Onua gets shoulderpads for his shoulderpads.Safe to say his power mode looks like one of the wealest.
Does anyone else think Umarak would be supremely more proportional and solid looking if the Hordika skulls that attached his arms were connected by the bottom axle hole and not the upper one? Seems like a simple fix that should've been there to start.
I could try, but it's like 80+ pics. EDIT: I'm uploading them now. I hope they all work. Some of the Earth creature pics showed up broken in the preview.
For those who want one convenient location. Also: Gali may yet again survive as the only unaltered Toa, as long as I keep her perma-fused to the fish thing.
You, sir. Are. Crazy. Also, you're only saying that because you haven't seen what can be laughingly refered to as Pohatu's "combination." I mean, everybody else it's like armour or wings or in Gali's case guns and propellers. Pohatu... oh, my poor Pohatu. He looks miserable with that on. I'll be cannibalising the Stone creature for sure.
I knew Pohatu+Ketar would look odd from the get-go. Ketar's limbs and tail are too short for anything to work well. The other 5 Unity forms look excellent though, so no complains.
