Kind of happy to see HGCE Impluse. It was one of the lead MS I couldn't stand due to poor design and fugly look. The revamped MG Impluse looks so much nicer so I won't mind owning a miniature version of that. Anyway, done some detailing of Gastima.
So I woke up real early this morning and couldn't go back to sleep. So I ended up building that PG Unicorn. Just did a straight build and only built the Unicorn, no weapons and no base. No plans on building the weapons yet. I don't like building stuff I don't plan to use. Anyways, I clocked in a lil over 12 hrs of build time and frustration. Plan on taking mostly everything apart and painting it sometime.

Pretty excited. My Gundam: The Origin Char's Zaku II should be arriving tomorrow. I'm going to go as far as say that The Origin Zaku IIs are the best fuckin' Zaku IIs in 1/144th scale. They manage to articulate better than the RG ones, and I have both regular release RG Zaku IIs also. I hope Bandai does a classic grunt Zaku II out of the Char's mold. I know there's the Prototype Zaku...the YMS-04 coming out, so I'll be definitely getting that one also.
Yeah, that's the impression I get here in my country too. To the younger generation in my country...it's like the 'One Year War' of my generation. Tbh I must admit some of the designs are really nice but some were too gaudy for me. I think you should be impressed - I know I was. It completely blows the older HG Zakus away. The best part is that its sturdy! Oh yeah, there are optional chest pieces to convert it to the old school Zaku - without the chest vulcans. The only drawback was the sticker eye - there's no 'raised portion' to psint the eye but I can live with it.
Oh man. I already own the three Black Tri Stars ones, so I'm ALREADY impressed. I love 'em! I'm admittedly not really a Zaku guy...more of a Dom and aquatic MS guy but damn...I'll buy more HG Zaku IIs using The Origin molds any day of the week.
I haven't posted in here or even brought a Gundam kit in a long time but I just couldn't pass this up! Waited years for Bandai to do this with just the right type of gold finish and then they went and released the Mega Bazooka Launcher too! Been watching Iron Blooded Orphans, really enjoying that and Thunderbolt looks ace so I guess Bandai have got me back.
Yeah same here! I'm hoping we might see a 'revive' version of the Zaku IIs. I mean we got the RX, Guncannon, Gouf and Gyan announced...surely its a matter of time yes? That the MG Hiyaku-Shiki 2.0?! If so: 1. What's your opinion on the nub marks? Are they that bad? 2 where did you get the mega bazooka from?! Thanks as the Hiyaku-Shiki is one of my top 5 fave MS.
It is, the nub marks are for the most part ok, both gold sprues are under gated and it's generally fine as long as you take your time curing the parts out. There are a few parts like the really thin wing pieces where under gating doesn't work sadly but again, patience and a really good pair of clippers can minimise the visible damage. I got the MBL from etoys Japan, it's up for another release in Jan: etoysjapan - MG 1/100 Mega Bazooka Launcher Ltd Pre-Order
That's for the feedback on the Hiyaku-Shiki. I really like that its sleeker now. I have the original plated one and the undergate for it was so good. I think there were only 2 or 3 problem areas in terms of the nub marks. Thanks for the MBL link too! I can't believe I missed that the first time around. I guess its my fault for being obsessed with 'One Year War' metchandise! Doh!
That gold finish is very pretty! Looks nice! I saw that at the model shop yesterday. Really tempting, but I decided to get some Iron Blooded Orphans stuff instead.
finally got CrossBones guns all put together.... I really wish I had just gotten the Ver Kai. He cant hold the crossbow at all and the sword will stay fine so long as nothing goes near it. However his original gun and sword and great. I'm going to get a flight stand and Hope that sorts out the floppy legs problem then I'll find a way to secure his guns.
Absolutely. Honestly I think a Revive Zaku II is an eventuality rather than a possibility. It's easily the most iconic mobile suit along with the RX-78 Gundam and I highly doubt Bandai will pass up an opportunity to remake it in the Revive branding. It seems though that they're sort of following the original HGUC release numbering in regards to the Revive. Like how the Guncannon was the first HGUC kit in 1999, and how it's also the first kit in the Revive line. The RX-178 Mk. II Gundam coming out throws that out of whack but if we keep in with that line of thinking the Zaku II was no.40 in the HGUC line, back in 2003. So we might see it a bit later down the road. It makes sense considering they released three Zaku IIs, Gaia/Mash, Ortega, Char in the Origin line I wouldn't be surprised if they wanted to wait a bit before churning out another Zaku II in the HG 1/144th series.
Totally agree. The Origin Zaku II is really a great kit. Think the best 1/144 Zaku we've gotten. Welcome back to the Gunpla addiction. Yeah really enjoying Iron Blooded Orphans and Thunderbolt sounds pretty good too. Speaking of which I was wondering why Bandai stopped producing Thunderbolt kits but it appears they were waiting for the anime. It's from Gunpla Toy Expo. It's a teaser for the OVA and kit from GBF. Really like the display, cooler than frosted glass but hate that it shows even less. Well played Bandai, well played. I could see that. With a few tweaks in mold design, they could easily put out pretty much all variations of the Zaku. With all this lack of MG Zaku production I wonder if they could be releasing a Zaku II 3.0 soon.
