After the announcement over at TheTransformers.de that the Germany release of the Transformers Movie had slipped back to August 2nd, we chased our contacts at Paramount for confirmation on other International release dates. They sent us back the release dates for 26 countries, some of which have moved back but other have been bought forward (such as Italy and New Zealand).
That's ridiculous about Germany. Come on, it's a Michael Bay film, there can't be any really deep intricate dialogue to translate. And heck, I bet if I check online now I'll find subs for Bleach and Death Note which aired in Japan "this morning". Professional translators are so lazy. And there's absolutely no excuse for the UK release, either. It's ridiculous and Paramount UK deserve to be Pirated to death by Johnny Depp and that German guy who got in trouble for cracking the Dreamcast.
WTF is up with this list. Why are they F'ing around with these release dates? It'll make MUCH, MUCH more sense to release the film on july 4th worldwide instead of having Europe wait a month after the far east.... How many people (NOT including me) in Europe are gonna say 'F**k waiting, i'm gonna DL it now'? Quite a few i'd say... And that will seriously curtail the movies profits which could eradicate any sequels
movie time I had to look in oher pages to find the premiere date in Colombia 'cause in the posted link didn't appear. but checkin' that in my local theater page, hey announce that TFTM is 100 minutes long... all this time waiting to see a "real" transformer, and I'll only get this? it can't be, it can't be! "you know all your wishes are granted, many of your dreams will be" ...transformed?
Reportedly, even Hasbro Germany didn't know about the delay util recently, as the toys have already started shipping to stores.
iam gutted about the 27th july release for "old blighty" but at least iam not in japan!!!! strange that they have to wait the longest for something that started there????? no thought seems to have gone in to this at all. also whats the point of have dozens of trailers on t.v. and cinema world wide with 7.4.7 on it and then shaft everyone by screwing around with the dates?
My cinema in New Zealand is having the movie come out on the 5th of July. Bad news for the fans in Germany and Japan.
Hmm, strange. Greater Union still have the following info up for Australia: Release Date Thursday, 28 June 2007 Length 2hrs 15min
The translations and dubbing, if you really need to know, are almost certainly already done. It's only a matter of distribution and other commercial considerations. Kinda like how the first PotC was shown in france 2 months after its release, when in fact the french version had already been shown at the international release date in other french-speaking countries. In fact, simultaneous international releases are still the exception, it's not uncommon for europe to have to wait for months to see Us stuff come to their shores. Also, the comparison with fansubs is inaccurate, as these have no dubbing, don't bother about rights or the license holders' opinions, and only deal with distribution to the extent of it being torrented. They have nowhere near the complexity as far as approval and checking go. No promotion campaigns apart from spamming forums. No need to coordinate with other companies working on the same brand. It's a commercial, professional structure versus obsessed/dedicated fans ultimately bypassing all the legal necessities.
20th July for Brazil. Dubbing is still in the works. Estrela said they'll be bringing the toys, no dates.
Ok, so fortunately the movie is confirmed to be released here July 5th in the Netherlands. That's a very nice release date, because usually Holland get's screwed over and movie's will be released here a few weeks later than in the USA, just like Pan's Labyrinth, Fantastic Four II and what more. Anyway, I was wondering why Germany (our neighbouring country) has such a 'late' releasedate? Is it because all movies in German are dubbed-over, is it because of Paramount USA or Paramount Germany? Who makes the decisions about these release dates?????????? Edit: I really feel for you UK folks. That release date is totally whack and not understandable. I'm so glad it's being released the 5th of July here. Also Japan --> wtf?? Edit : Where can I see the movie length for my country?
OH noes! Canadia has been excluded! We're not getting the movie here! That would explain the lack of TV advertisements here
christ - i wish they'd make their minds up - ive got june 28th furiously scribbled in my diary for a night time screening in Australia. hmph.
Venezuela's release date is also July 27th. Sucks, but I don't mind. I'll see it at Botcon. If I like it, I can see it again during two premieres. I'd love a worldwide release though. PotC 3 opens tomorrow for example. Hmmm... because those trailers and TV spots are targeted just to U.S. audiences. We're only seeing those thanks to the Interwebs. -airfox
