I'm not going to chase after this thing. If it's some kind of secret sold-out RK exclusive, it's going to be like chasing down a Lucky Draw. If not, it should pop up at a few more of the usual suspects. Getting Takara movie toys is not an overly arduous process, you can't dawdle but you don't have to leap on it within the hour.

 

Possible. Maybe a few were produced a long time ago and they either opted not to, or switched to no paint but decided these were worth throwing on a card. I have no idea if the art is recycled from elsewhere or not.

I guess not a huge disappointment. I've got Takara's Side Arm Sideswipe and it's deffinitely the superior toy. I just like this version of the corvette better. It would have saved me having to paint the one I have, that's all.

This Sideswipe does look great, as annoying as it is that my own custom is now obsolete.

 

If Takara's still pumping out Movie Advance figures, I kind of hope they eventually do Ramjet from the DOTM or Protoform Starscream molds. Also a Thundercracker out of the protoform mold.

 

Does anyone know if or when this will come back in stock?

 

As suspected, this mold is actually not bad at all in a non-shitty-swhirly-plastic deco.
Once upon a time I'd be over this, but just like with Jolt I can't get too excited for a movie-accurate deco in the best possible mold anymore. I'll stick with my Sidearm Sideswipe, even if it has those awful flames  

 

I own the AA Sidearm Sideswipe already, but I like this mold too so I may take a run at this. If US retailers don't get it for a decent price, I'll just wait for it to show up for a lower price than others are asking for it on Mandarake.

If Takara's still in the (random-ass) movie toy business in the interim years before the next film, are there any other redecos they could pump out under the "Yeah it took a while, but why the hell not?" category of release? It's been a while since I looked at my movie stuff so I don't recall straight redecos that were glaringly absent a few years ago.

i'm way too willing to pay for a G1 colored rotf leader optimus... we could use a red HFTD ironhide... just whore out a bunch of G1 colored movie molds, honestly. i'm not very imaginative LOL

 

Dirge -> Ramjet

Evasion Mode Optimus -> every color scheme that truck has ever had in TFs

Skyhammer -> Blackout just so there's a decent chopper mold for that character

Drift -> IDW Drift

 

So it was actually in-stock at some point? Damn. I'll have to try to track one down eventually.

 

I just keep clicking the refresh button on RK hoping for a nice surprise...

I searched again just now after you said that. I searched yesterday as well. My movie Sideswipe searches are pulling up everything but Sideswipe.

 

Looks like a nice figure, but the time of the release was just random IMO.

 

I would agree that this is a cancelled toy where a few productions samples exists like AA Sideways Sneak Attack and 2007 Movie Scout Reverb, Backtrack, and Gunbarrel.

 

I would theorize that this was one of those figures that was meant to be released but didnt get to to see the light of day. Which means these are hella rare and possibly the only time you can get it before the price gets jacked up.

 

Except I couldn't get it.  


I think I'll live. (although if more pop up I'll jump on it)

It did get me to fish my general release out of a box. I remembered immediately why I only liked the (beautiful) car mode.

I will how ever probably finally paint mine soon (it's been on the to do list for a long time).
