Ratchet is one of those few cases where I think they might really consider doing a dedicated "MP-30C" comic version. If they did it for Grimlock, I think there's at least a chance. Comic Ratchet has a lot of fans.

Glad I'm not alone in feeling this way!

I was so confused, but I realize what it is: it's the crotchplate - Ironhide's is just goofy as all get out, and Ratchet's looks like... it belongs on a Masterpiece Transformer. I saw it thanks to Sixo's side-by-side.

    Yuuuuuup.

    Awesome! He looks great! :)

Totally inevitable, but I really didn't expect even more reveals until into next year. MP-25 just out and 26-30 announced!! Wouldn't have believed this last year.

I am a little bummed about the shoulders as I'm surprised they couldn't get away with the cross...

I'd read when looking into it it's specifically a cross that does not extend to the edge of the white background. Defined in the geneva convention as a colour reversal of the Swiss flag. You can get a square version of the English flag with equal length horizontal and vertical lines absolutely everywhere. If i can freely buy all this attached tat, I'm not sure why Ratchets shoulders can't be done toon accurate.

But oh well never mind the solution is OK.

That storyline and those issues were among my favorite from the Marvel comics run. Ratchet being on his own, and then finding a way to defeat Megatron was brilliant. I also loved the way the character was drawn in the Marvel comics. The character was very well developed in the comics and in the show as well. That made my disappointment all the stronger when comparing his comic and anime version to the actual toy. Ratchet and Ironhide certainly go down near the top of the list in terms of "great characters that have poor official toy representations." This release may help to remedy that.

Agreed, and judging by a good deal of the posts so far that is quickly becoming the consensus. I wasn't impressed with Ironhide but that Ratchet is looking pretty good.

From this angle, he looks terrible. Maybe it's bc the bumper isn't flush with the sides or the chest is just too big.

I'll still be getting it, but I think I'll like it better in person.

The face sculpt still isn't the greatest but he looks way better than Ironhide, which I'm kinda warming up to, but both Ironhide and Ratchet need better faces and I'm sure a 3rd party will come up with one.

I'm getting both him and Ironhide, either way this was a random announcement.

And for anyone annoyed at Red Cross being fuckfaces over the symbol...there's Reprolabels.

Even if they don't eventually do a red and white comic color scheme (and considering how many Bluestreaks and random-colored Primes we get I suspect they will), his all-white color scheme is great for paint modifications.

Now what if I'm interested in a tired old face with a bit of a chin, to make him more IDWesque?

    I like it.......
except those hip panels. Still can't get used to that - and the gap at the "kidney" area's of the torso.

Real shame, because the limbs and headsculpts look very nice to me.

How do you figure?? I honestly don't know how I came across as arrogant at all, but if that was the most arrogant post you've ever read here you must not read much here at all.

Obviously I greatly offended you with my difference of opinion. I was talking about my OWN experiences too because I bought MP-01 Optimus, MP Megatron, MP Starscream, and replaced each with the better version later. I'll probably replace my Rodimus with the new one too. Each ended up having something many fans never got over, so either Hasbro themselves or a 3rd party company made another version those people, including myself, liked much better.
I was only saying I won't go for this when I know a better option will come up. I've wasted too much money that way already.
    Jeeze, Mr. Sensitive Panties.

Lol and yeah, they are re-doing Hotrod JUST because the other version's car mode was too big. There are lots of other more popular characters they could be doing but he is being revisted Just because the car mode was too big... Nothing to do with how they commonly fall apart and dont latch together right, and scratch the spoiler a little each time its transformed. Either way, a new version is on the way. And after already being re-released in the right colors Starscream was fixed again as MP-11 because fans didnt like the inaccurate hip panels... One of the biggest complaints on this Ratchet and Ironhide too izzitnot?

At the end of the day, these guys both still beat Voodoo's potions IMO.

Next year will be THE BEST YEAR EVER for MP figures.

I'm going to agree the mould seems to work/look much better than Ironhide but for fucks sake that face?!!! Seriously? I've gotten used to MP Faces being THE definitive sculpts (Prowl and Bluestreak etc) but Ironhide/Ratchet get short-shifted? Cruel.

Those heads are going straight back in the box. Seat-face if needs be.

Somehow they succeeded to make it even worse than Ironhide.

3 Ironhide/Ratchet MP-ish molds to choose from and none of them looks good, these characters must be cursed.

Yes, unfortunately. It's one of my pet peeves, and it makes them sound ... foolish.

They're still the best versions of Ratchet and Ironhide who have ever seen the light of day. They leave a bit to be desired but they still tap dance on anything that came before.

Lol. Yeah ok bud. Have fun waiting on a 2.0 version of a character that just got shown TODAY . Also , enjoy that " eye " for those 3rd party figures. Those companies will squeeze more money out of you than Hasbro & Takara combined . Then , offer upgrades separately to complete the look !
