I'm really happy to see this coming form Hastak. Really looks good and is hitting all the nostalgia feels. I remember getting him from Christmas as a kid from my Aunt, he was one of my all-time favorites. This was immediately preordered.

 

Well I'm pretty sure I'm not so popular considering I regularly toss my honest opinions right on out there on the boards, but I sure don't think I'm special and didn't mean to imply anyone is wrong or right. I'm a 40 year old guy who has watched exactly these same mixed and so-so reactions to MP figure reveals for over a decade, and watched them hit ebay for cheap like they carried the plague the second a better version is revealed later.

MP 01- OMG WTF WOW BUY ASAP! And it was truly great, until the bar was raised and scale was lowered.
MP Megatron- Reason for existence nullified by Apollyon.
MP Starscream- "Why are his colors totally wrong? Who cares, its great!" Then the right color comes out and they hit ebay for cheap. Then a better version comes out and those hit ebay for cheap too.
MP Rodimus- "OMG looks so great!" lots of little issues, so now here's a new version!

I can't afford to keep doing that. I prefer MP figure's I will never care to replace.

I'm not saying these are horrible figures. I'm saying compared to most of the Masterpiece figures they are a big let down in my opinion. The gappy areas and proportions make it a step backward for the MP line after Bumblebee and Wheeljack were so near perfect and I don't believe getting it right (or a lot closer to it) isn't possible.
Also i probably like Ironhide and Ratchet more than a lot of people do, so I had much higher hopes for their MP incarnations.

 

Preordered with AE my wallet is hurting.

 

They're probably saving that for MP-30x Ratchet Comic Version.

Also MP-30g Ratchet Movie (Green) Version I'm sure is another one to look forward to.

At this size I'd definitely expect some ratchet joints, especially considering Tracks has them.

Loving the articulation and pose-ability of this mold.

 

Well, technically, Marvel Ratchet had a white crotch, too. Also no crosses on the shoulders. However, while I would LOVE an MP30M with everything perfect, the head will suffice for me.

 

Not liking it. Gonna sell off the second Ironhide I bought from AE and see if a 3p does a better job. As great as TFCs looks, the aesthetics aren't quite there. Now looking at you MT/KFC.

 

I know Takara would never do anything that violates the sanctity of the G1 animation model, but I wish that once - just once - someone would put out a G1-esque Ratchet toy with the red helmet and white crest from the Marvel comics.

 

Im sure that all Ratchet's joints could be considered Ratchet joints.

 

Really dislike the Autobot logos on the shoulders otherwise it's pretty good.

 

What do they mean we are only one bot off from completing the crew. Seems they are at least 8 off from the original ark crew

 

I remember that one from a few days ago - knew I'd walked right into it as soon as I posted it, dammit!

I think the best hope anyone has who wants a comic book deco Ratchet is Hasbro. I'm going by Hasbro Grimlock's sword and crown, their Rodimus deco, Soundwave's yellow eyes, Starscream's blue nosecone, etc.

Seriously, I had the same reaction too. Was good to see a pic of Ratchet next to Optimus Prime and Bluestreak for scale reference.

No surprises here and I'll definitely pre-order when HLJ gets their link up.
