Is the only difference for the upper torso bot between monstructor and dinoking versions the head?

If so, they shouldn't even bother re releasing a new version, just put the head in one of the re colored limbs

 

Those aren't final versions, several spots, especially on Wildfly, were hand painted. I suspect they just molded the head in yellow and slapped it on a normal Dinoichi. There will likely be deco changes in the final version.

 

I hope so, because the yellow combined mode head on Slog absolutely ruins his bot mode. I was holding off on these guys until the Monstructor deco came out, because I like the colors way more, but Slog just isn't supposed to have a big yellow blob on his stomach when he's in bot mode. He needs a menacing, dark, and most importantly UNIFIED color scheme.

 

The hands/feet might also get different decos.

Either way, it's probably simpler all around to just sell "Slog as "MonsterOne" or whatever instead of telling people wanting Monstructor to buy Dinoichi can swap off parts.

Maybe they'll just paint the rear of the head black so that it blends into the chest but is yellow in robot mode. It's really the only way unless you add new parts.

And if it really bothers you, it'd be a simple enough paint job to do yourself.

Rough estimates suggest Monstructor and Dinoking will be about CW combiner height

 

Depends on what upgrades you have for your cw combiners. The PE hands and the menasor torso piece they put out for example and which configuration you have your cw sets in as some of the figures have long and short leg modes and some of the torsos can be adjusted etc.

But in general this set is from what I've seen similarly sized to MT's sets which are similarly sized to cw's sets but its not a perfect consistency with any of these things.

Aka whatever you're doing this guy will look fine next to your cw stuff I'm sure, so don't worry about it.

Most want the head to be remold like the IDW version of monstructor

 

I for one am not gonna buy w/o the IDW skullface, as that's the only version of the character that means anything to me.

 

Yeah I am super down for Fansproject giving an alternate IDW head. I hope by the time they release these guys there is a plan in place to be able to either improve articulation or reduce the cost of the pretender shells. I would like to own them as a curiousity but at the current price to functionality I just don't have interest in them.

Hopefully since the entire thing is a repaint they'll have room in the budget for alternate heads.
