    Highlight to read:
Wasn't there a part in the script where various consumer electronics come to life and go ape-shit?

Gonna have to disagree with that. I've had a Zen, a Rio, and now an iPod. IPod smokes them all. Both the Zen and the Rio took a sh!t after less than a year. iPod has been going strong for 2.5. Other than the fact that it rips your CDs in a proprietary format, and iTunes is slow (which there is an alterative program for, BTW), there is IMHO no better alternative MP3 player.

Mind you, I haven't tried a Zune, but it seems like that's going after image more than the iPod does.

To physically take something the size of a 80 Gig Video iPod & transform it into a 12" tall robot would require lots of folding & unfolding & extending I beleive.

I have a Rubik's Twist that can turn into a sphere-shape, a rectangle shape & it's normal long-stick shape. So, using that as a reference, I could see an iPod turning into soemthing that big (12"tall).

It'd be skinny as all hell, but it'd be possible.

Here here! If we do, I'm hoping for some deluxe & voyager sized Real Gears! :rock

Wait, if an Xbox is supposed to turn into a TF & they're making a Real Gear Controller TF...Hrmmm....:inquisiti

Product placement doesn't cost money, it makes money.

Actually product placement is more or less an AD for that company so they will pay for the product to show up on film. So instead of being an expense for production it's more of a profit. Depending on what is used and of much it is featured and also on who it was that wanted in the scene/movie, either the products company or the production company, then the price could range from tens to hundreds of thousands and even up to millions of dollars.

I would almost be inclined to say that he means Frenzy. Based off the script the possible iPod bot shows up for one tiny scene and dies quickly. Hardly something that "steals all the scenes." Frenzy however possibly takes multiple forms (some music related) is featured frequently and does take down a few humans.

Don't go into a movie discussion thread about a particular character if you don't want to be hit with mild spoilers.

Hollywood & Apple are close buds. Not to mention Apple products are popular and stylish. We could just as easily ask why X-box stuff is in all recent Bay flicks...

Point is MB is the king of product placement -- don't expect to leave his films without thirsting for Pepsi, disappointment in your attire, and a need to pwn some n00bs at Halo.

Considering that TF's have effectively been using licenced products since they first started, I'm not sure why people get in a huff about it in the movie. Or is it that Cars are fine, but iPods arent? :)

Before we gripe about product placement....is the entire movie not a big product placement :)
