IF the pilots are sold as a troop pack it might be just the the thing to convince me to fork over $170-200 for this . As it stands .....eesh. It's a bit too much for what i'd be getting in exchange.
^ Me too! translators needed. Also an updated Story page. Act 3, new Waruder units shown up. Here they come. Wadurados. OK Why I called this unit Warudaros? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_eGinLuUydw ^ Youtube review on the original Warudaros. the original Warudaros is a three-unit combiner, consists of three arthropodic robot/mechas, - Mosquidder; Modelled after a mosquito, forming head unit - Arinder; Ant, becomes arm and torso. - Zazolander; Double-tailed scorpion, becomes legs and feet. IMAO the new Warudaros looks much better! the original ones look very Toei Tokusatsu to me. Zazolander and Arinder units look good with beefy legs, (this makes me think of Scorponock comparisions between the G1 Megazarak, Beast Wars Scorpos and the : movie version). also Mosquidder is now smaller than he was. and Arinder legs become 'wing thing'. yet I don't know whether will Zazolander become partsformer thing or will the new version has single tail with its sting forms the joints of its halves?
I noticed something interesting: ...did the pre-real car Diaclones have a greater influence on later Transformer lines than we know? Another example, the robot "Big Powered" splits into three vehicles, much like Dia Battles. In Transformers zone, Dai Atlas, Roadfire and Sonic Bomber can combine into the super vehicle "Big Powered". A homage?
As excited as I am for a pre-car robo Diaclone reboot in its own right, I would love to see these awesome designs becoming part of the proper G1 Universe as well, like FP is doing with Trianix Alpha!
Looking sahweet, noticed both versions are displayed on the same hangar mat thing so perhaps that may be included too. Also there's a picture of the box here and at the bottom there's a little image of Great Robot Base and a blurb, little teaser maybe? http://www.taghobby.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/02/wf16ta007.jpg
Just cancelled a MP Ramjet preorder so I could get this guy...then realized how small he is. Ah well, he still looks like he'll be a ton of fun. So which version are yinz getting? Moonbase for me.
A little small, but since the driver size is the same, it may actually be "in scale" with current Masterpiece figures. Which would be kind of interesting. There's a lot of playability to be had in this set - really, it feels more like a set than a single figure to me - but the price is a bit hard to swallow, even taking that into account. That said, I still haven't decided on a color scheme. I've been collecting MP figures with a Diaclone scheme only, so either one of these would fit in my display. The standard scheme would look pretty good alongside the other reds and blues of the figures (Smokescreen, Starscream, Optimus, Sideswipe, etc), but the moonbase colors really pop, and I think having it stand out from the others might also look good. I'm going to wait for in-hand photos and reviews before I decide. I have a feeling these won't sell out super fast.
I'm getting both. They both look nice, I just wish they weren't coming out the same month (or, my wallet wishes that). I wonder when the next release will be announced?
Is there a picture out that that shows how the Diaclone driver sizes up versus the MP drivers? I'm kinda curious about this.
I don't know that I've seen one, but there's a pic on seibertron here from when the reboot was first unveiled: Wonderfest 2015 - Takara Tomy Diaclone Reboot - Transformers And the drivers from the reboot are about the same height as the ones from the original series. I just measured the little guy that comes with MP-10 (spike? sparkplug? wikikitiwiki?) is about 1+5/8", and the Diaclone pilots were about 1+1/4" tall. I thought witwikiki was shorter for some reason. If you figure a 6' human (tall, but it's an easy number to go with) that would put wikiwiki, at least, at around 1/44, and the Diaclone pilots around 1/58. Since you have to figure the pilots will interact with the other parts of the figure, I guess it's safe to assume 1/60 scale for the reboot? Which fits with the original toys, that were supposed to be roughly 1/60 scale anyhow. Of course, then inside the MP line, I think MP-10 is generally considered to be around 1/35 scale and the carbots about 1/30. So even then wikiwiki's scale is all off. It's a much bigger difference than I thought. I guess this would put the Diaclone reboot closer in scale to maybe some of the CHUG figures, Classics Voyager Optimus maybe, instead of MP-10? But trying to apply scale to these figures is more art than science anyhow. I just sort of ignore it. Maybe I could put wikiwiki back in the box and just use the Diaclone drivers for everything on my MP shelf.
Ok, that link was perfect, because it reminded me that Yuki (the Brainmaster from MP Starsaber) is identical in height to both the old and new Diaclone drivers: So yeah. These minifigures figures are tiiiny. I think you're on the right track thinking Dia-Battles is going to be CHUG-voyager size. It's a bit of a shame, but he is a thick boy...I'm sure he'll be heavier and bulkier than any MP that height. Not sure how reliable they are, but BBTS has his weight as 2.8lbs...which is around the same as MP Soundwave and Shockwave. Plus it seems like Dia-Battles was surprisingly small to begin with (compared to a lot of other Diaclone figures). If they are planning to continue the line, they're going to have to keep everything to scale; it makes sense not to let his size get out of hand so they can possibly commit to producing the larger figures.
That's a good point. And anything that increases the chances of a new GURETO ROBOTO BESU gets a thumbs-up in my book. I really hope this line does well for them. If the prices are high but they're selling them as whole play-sets instead of individual figures, it'll be a lot easier to swallow.
