What do you think of Transformers Armada comic? I recently downloaded it. Mainly to read G1/Armada crossover "Worlds Collide". But I'm in the first issue.

So, what do you think of it? Is it good or bad?

Haha, I hope I enjoy reading it. I read the preview and a few pages of the first issue. It appears it takes place in the same universe as cartoon.

If you are talking about the old Dreamwave version, it was better than the show.

Yeah, this. And is also good when it morphs into the Energon comic.

But in the interests of fairness, I have to point out that the book's competition at the time, as far as TF comics went, was about 99.9% CRAP across the board. So it may seem better in my memory than it might if I reread it again today and compared it with the current IDW books. But I definitely do remember liking it, and liking it more than the cartoon.

I actually starting rereading all these again lately, and... Yeah, they hold up! I kind of want to collect the published Energon issues now.

Fairly Dreamwavey. Decent enough. Prob holds up better than the G1 material.

I remember loving the first two issues that took place on Cybertron, but there was a noticeable drop in quality after #3 when they arrived on Earth. It was still a good comic, and a lot more coherent than the G1/Pat Lee mess that was being published at the time.

    Frankly I think its terrible.

I'd rather watch the Armada anime instead.

I saw a number of these issues at a local comic convention this past weekend, but kind of blew them off as probably not being very good. (I ended up snagging a good+ condition full run of G2 for $40 instead.) Now this thread is making me a bit curious about the Armada/Energon run.

Anyone want to share what about them actually worked/didn't work? I don't mind a few spoilers.

I read preview issue and 1st issue and it looks quite good, in my opinion. In the preview issue, Optimus accidentally killed a humanoid alien by falling off on top of him. So it's more violent than cartoon. The Only thing I don't like is that stupid human characters.

I've got no time for Worlds Collide. The first true and total complete reboot of the Transformers franchise, and when it gets to its first big "event" storyline, Furman decides, oh, no, it can't stand on its own, better prop it up with a G1 crossover. Bah.

I only bought a trade of volume 3 of Armada years ago because I wanted to get to the good stuff and god keep me away from any Transformers comics drawn by Pat Lee but, it was okay. The whole World's Collide G1 crossover story, it was fun to read but it felt like the G1 Decepticons were just wasted and the final issue was RUBBISH. No offence to Simon Furman I love his work but it was quite a rushed and botched ending to the Armada comic. I did like the appearance of several
    Beast Wars
characters but again they just showed up and nothing was done with them.

I am very interested in reading the Energon sequel comic because I've heard a lot of positive things about that incomplete series in stark contrast to the awful cartoon, but I can't find it yet. I wish Furman got to write something about Cybertron though, I think he would have loved writing about Vector Prime before Dreamwave died.

Download? Where did you download it from? Certainly not comixology despite me wanting them to have all of Dreamwave's old stuff on there already. :D

They were enjoyable as were their profile books.

Along with the Ps2 game they proved Armada could be good.

God I miss Dreamwave. Apart from More than meets the eye Dreamwave were infinitely better than the crap IDW churns out.

Could not disagree more strongly. Storywise, IDW is about 579999 light years ahead of DW, other than maybe War Within.
