That's probably what I'll go with, too. Did you put a faction symbol on yours yet? I'm debating whether to use one that fills the entire red background part, or just remove the red part and put a smaller sticker over the holes.

BBTS just shipped my replacement so I should be getting it tomorrow. Fingers crossed it was put together a little more skillfully than my first! :D

I'm guessing this does not scale well with MP figures?

No. This is NOT meant for MP.

He is only 10 inch from toe to top of the head.

I haven't thought about that yet, actually. Believe it or not, though I keep meaning to, I've still never put faction symbols on any of my 3P TFs to this day. I have no specific reason for not doing so; I just never seem to get around to it.

That said, here's a thought I just came up with: Put a smaller Decepticon symbol sticker between the holes, and put an Autobot symbol on the red piece. That would seem to fit with Skyfire's debut episode, where he rips off an apparently flimsy decal Decepticon symbol and sticks a seemingly higher-quality metal Autobot symbol on.

    In other news/thoughts:

I think I will keep mine, though it's absolutely not worth $170. I'm leaning toward keeping him in jet mode most of the time, since that hides the still definitely not great face. It would work as a depiction of Skyfire flying in the background, I suppose. I'll probably look/wait for some other rendition of Skyfire to actually be my main representation of the character. Perhaps Kronos would work, since I've already got FT's Dibots as (oversized) representations of the Dinobots in my main (mostly CHUG) collection. I think for both the Dinobots and Skyfire, too big is better than too small (hence why I don't just get Generations Jetfire). On that note, does anyone know how tall Kronos is at the head?

One last thought: I've never hung a flying TF up before, but Sky Guardian's lightness might make such a thing easy if one were so inclined.

Ha, not a bad idea! I never used to put faction logos on mine either, but then I got a sheet of Bot & Con stickers as a free bonus and started doing it, then I realized I enjoyed it and started trying different stickers from different companies. Dry-transfer Ocean decals are my favorite since they look like tampo painted detail.

    Wabi-sabi.

Well at least they got to good homes with people who will love them...mostly. :)

    Happy ending.

...And never mind what I said earlier about using Kronos as my main Skyfire. I just watched Emgo's review of it.

My replacement came in today and it's much, much better than the first. No jacked up paint on the head, no broken hinges and no randomly glued parts. The biceps were a little tight to unlock but certainly not something that required a tool. Now that I've got a properly working copy I'm content. The alt mode still looks very ugly on the underside even with the correct transformation but as I said before, wabi-sabi. :)

I also believe the transformation is more of a funky "whatever works" affair than it is elegant or clever, but it's certainly better than anything I could come up with and it holds together with nothing flapping about so, swoosh-swoosh!

Still better than the arms side by side imo. That would have made the fuselage mega wide...and I really hate mega wide... lol

But seriously. The actual G1 Skyfire features a brickshaped/ slab shaped rectangular protrusion underneath the fuselage and canopy.

Although not exactly the same, Sky Guardian's right arm and head being in that spot mimic this pretty well.

Forcing the VF-1 method of sandwiching the arms inbetween the legs simply rapes the proportion of the jet into something which is way too wide, because the spherical shaped shoulders.... they just require that much width to store side to side.

Therefore, I am so incredibly glad Sky Guardian doesn't use the layout as seen in Kronos and Generations Jetfire.

Outlined in green are the cartoon arms, tucked underneath the red backpack. That is only possible becasue...well ; cartoon magic cheating.

And again... the protrusion underneath the central fuselage is really there.

Is anyone saying it should have been VF-1 style?

Not explicitly, but it seems to be the standard way of doing things in recent years ( Kronos, 2014 Jetfire etc. ).... and it seems that is what a lot of people are expecting.....

Yeah... that's the video I made for my review ( and it was a little more tricky to transform with having my tablet acting as camera inbetween me and the toy ) : http://www.tfw2005.com/boards/transformers-3rd-party-reviews/1053825-sky-guardian-review-knoted-post13045191.html
